POSITION SUMMARY

  • Summary:
    • Employee is primarily responsible for computerized order entry and handling all calls for the Emergency Department, doctors, and families. Employee must keep records of patients in the Emergency Room and provide assistance to the nursing staff. Employee needs to be able to handle multiple tasks, have good computer skills and have an eye for detail. Employee normally performs the duty assignments after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. The assignment is reviewed upon completion.

    • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

    • Six months to one year related experience.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and basic computer skills for other software used throughout the hospital for your area of responsibility.

    • Certification in Emergency Medical Technician Preferred.

    • Certification in CPR. Ability to adapt to changes in the pace of the Emergency Room.ย General working knowledge ofย Microsoft Office/Windows. This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, use of hands and fingers, liftingย and carrying 0โ€“20 lbs and pushing and pulling 0โ€“100 lbs.

  • Essential Functions
    • Make calls to order labs, x-rays, etc.
    • File ED Charts.
    • Enter Physician orders into the computerized order entry system.
    • Provides clerical and other administrative supports to Emergency Department, utilizing all necessary equipment and systems (i.e. copy machine, printer, LifeNet) following established department procedures.
    • Assist ED Physician with procedures.
    • Transport samples to the lab.
    • Discontinue IV's
    • Clean rooms after patient discharge.
    • Clean instruments after use.
    • Assist nursing staff with checking patient vital signs, during procedures, and with the transfer of patients to other departments.
    • Provide emotional support for patients.
