The Project Manager will be a versatile team member responsible for supporting the planning, execution, and governance of a broad portfolio of programs and initiatives across Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP. This role sits at the intersection of business operations, legal practice, and program management, requiring an individual who can translate stakeholder requirements into tangible, firm-wide value across a variety of subject areas. The successful candidate will support a diverse portfolio of firm initiatives, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and work closely with stakeholders to ensure that program initiatives align with the firm's strategic objectives and deliver measurable outcomes, reporting to the Director, PMO.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, execution, and delivery of a variety of programs and initiatives across the firm, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and business objectives.

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of assigned firm projects, including requirements gathering, stakeholder coordination, implementation support, change management, and post-deployment follow-up.

  • Apply appropriate program and project management methodologies to manage delivery cycles, ensuring timely progress while maintaining quality standards.

  • Serve as a liaison between business teams, legal professionals, firm leadership, and external vendors, translating operational needs and requirements into clear, actionable plans.

  • Develop and maintain program roadmaps, budgets, risk registers, and status reports for stakeholders and steering committees.

  • Support organizational change management activities to foster adoption of new processes and initiatives across the firm, including training programs and communication strategies.

  • Monitor relevant industry trends and provide recommendations to firm leadership on opportunities and risks affecting assigned program areas.

  • Ensure all program activities comply with the Firm's legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements, including data privacy and confidentiality.

  • Collaborate with and support project managers, analysts, and other PMO team members on assigned initiatives.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree

  • PMP, Prince2 or CAPM preferred

Skills and Experience

  • 5- 10 years of experience in program or project management, preferably supporting a variety of cross-functional initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting programs or projects in complex organizational environments, preferably in professional services or legal.

  • PMO experience, including supporting governance frameworks, portfolio tracking, resource planning, and reporting.

  • Workday and SAAS systems program management experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills-both written and verbal-with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, including partners and C-suite executives.

  • PMP, CAPM, or equivalent project/program management certification preferred.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with a track record of building trusted relationships with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.

  • Coaching and mentoring fellow PMO team members.

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, plan and multi-task work activities in a high pressure environment

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a law firm, professional services firm, or financial institution.

  • Familiarity with legal technology ecosystem (document management, e-discovery, contract lifecycle management).

  • Knowledge of legal industry regulations around data privacy, confidentiality, and privilege.

  • Experience supporting program or project budgets of varying sizes.

Salary Information

NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $180,000 at the time of posting.

The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
