Job Description:
The Emergency Management Specialist assists with emergency preparedness, incident command, and regulatory compliance. This position requires a proactive professional with an understanding of healthcare systems, risk management, and how to mitigate operational disruptions during emergencies. This position will require close communication and collaboration with other team members internally and externally. Executes other duties as assigned by leadership.
Education:
  • Required: High School Diploma
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Emergency and Disaster Management, Homeland Security, or related field

Experience:
  • Required: 3+ years' healthcare and/or Emergency Management experience (Law Enforcement and/or military training experience preferred)

Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal formats to include public speaking
  • Proven skills facilitating interactive planning meetings (virtual and in-person) according to an agenda, managing time, and including multiple department leaders
  • Previous work with adult learners, including training development and facilitation
  • Demonstrated experience in developing discussion-based and operations-based exercises of varying sizes and complexity
  • Possess ability to maintain a tolerant and congenial presence when dealing with public, crews and other departments while representing CoxHealth and the Office of Emergency Management in the community.

Licensure/Certification:
  • Preferred - any Emergency management related certifications
