Job description

Merchandiser

The Merchandiser is a non-exempt position responsible for working with the sales department to execute merchandising standards. A merchandiser provides support to the assigned route, sales representative, and supervisor to increase visibility and drive sales for Adams Beverages. The Merchandiser reports to the Sales Manager or an Area Sales Manager.

Primary Objectives

  • Sales Functions
    • Merchandising
      • Pack out off-premise accounts
      • Communicate with store managers, grocery managers/receivers
      • Manage shelf space and coolers
      • Maintain, organize, and clean backstock areas
      • Rotate product using product freshness codes
      • Be aware of shelf tags and price signs
      • Follow plan-o-grams
      • Report out of stock products
      • Build, resupply, and merchandise with relevant POS and pricing
      • Install Point of Connection Materials (POCM) including neon signs, banners, price signs, and inflatable items
      • Understand POCM standards and execution
      • Deliver and install promotional items that draw attention to our product
    • Assist sales representatives and supervisors
    • Repackage breakage product
    • Use tools including manual pallet jack, U-boat/float, and hand truck
    • Maintain knowledge of portfolio, brand, pricing, segment/chains, and KAM initiatives/programs
    • Review weekly ad sales sheets
  • Administrative Functions
    • Communication and customer service
    • Phone, email, text message, face-to-face communication
    • Frequent communication with direct manager, sales team, and account managers
    • Continued completion of ABU courses
    • Understanding of Technology
      • Encompass Mobile
      • Microsoft Outlook
  • Operations Functions
    • General knowledge of vehicle & supermarket safety
    • Follow safety policies and procedures
      • Proper use of a company vehicle including cleanliness, appearance, and service intervals

  • Minimum age of 18 years old

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or equivalent in Business, Marketing or Organizational Management is a plus
