What are we looking for?
The EMC Engineer is responsible for independently performing testing and evaluation on a variety of medical devices and products to the requirements of U.S., Canadian and other international product safety standards; writing reports; and communicating with clients. Ability to travel up to 50%.
Variable shifts: 8am- 5pm, 4pm - 1am or 8pm - 5am
Salary & Benefits Information
The base wage or salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What you'll do:
  • Independently, conduct on and off-site evaluation of products to determine compliance with applicable standard(s).
  • Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test).
  • Supply information for quotes such as length of project, site needed, rental equipment, samples, and standards that will be used.
  • Set up and operate standard test equipment including, but not limited to: spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, multi-meter, dielectric strength tester, ground continuity tester, digital multi-meter, surge generator and other EMC related test equipment Use hand tools to build/calibrate test fixtures.
  • Read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics and manufacturing instructions.
  • Validate the project scope and sample applicability.
  • Under scope of the project, identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing.
  • Follow established test plan. Set up and operate EUT; perform and document simple repairs on EUT as needed.
  • Mentor less senior technical personnel.
  • Provide more specialized "expertise" in one product category, i.e., become reviewer, resident subject matter expert, or obtain and maintain advanced product knowledge.
  • Develop and set up test plans.
  • Perform field evaluations or INSITU testing.
  • Follow sample handling procedures, ensuring that sample is logged in and out of the system. Move equipment as needed through the facility. Properly package sample for shipment.
  • Provide sales support such as attending client visits.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Variable shifts: 8am- 5pm or 4pm - 1am or 8pm - 5am
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • No experience required - recent college grads considered
  • Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parameters
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in both verbal and written format
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Physical dexterity to perform the clerical and technical functions which are inherent to the position
  • Physical dexterity to operate equipment and perform other functions necessary to effectively and efficiently perform the duties of the job. This may include bending/stooping, turning/twisting, reaching, balancing, and mobility to travel to other work sites.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Model Intertek's 10X Energies at all times within the work place, practicing business the right way
  • Valid unrestricted driver's license and reliable driving record
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate, up to 50%

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Electrical engineering degree is highly desired
  • 1+ years directly related experience
  • Prior project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product EMC standards such as FCC Part 15 Subpart B, Subpart C, EN/IEC 55032, 55035, 61000-4-series etc.
