PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a highly experienced Professional Senior Engineer – Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) to support a leading aviation innovator. In this critical role, you will help ensure aircraft systems are protected against electromagnetic threats—playing a vital role in the safety, reliability, and certification of next-generation aerospace technologies.

Role Details
  • Job Type: Full-Time Consultant (12-month assignment)
  • Location: Montreal, Toronto, or Wichita (Hybrid: 2–3 days onsite)
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday
  • Pay Rate: $74.64 – $104.55 per hour

What You’ll Do

In this advanced engineering role, you will:

  • Lead complex EMC engineering efforts involving EMI, HIRF, LIRF, lightning, and electrostatic protection
  • Conduct detailed analyses, simulations, and similarity assessments to ensure compliance
  • Define project scope, identify risks, and manage technical milestones
  • Review and approve engineering documentation, including test procedures and certification reports
  • Support EMC certification activities and resolve technical issues affecting production and in-service aircraft
  • Analyze new and modified system designs and recommend EMC compliance solutions
  • Lead testing initiatives, including overseeing aircraft-level EMC testing and preparing reports
  • Develop and update technical standards and requirements for electromagnetic protection
  • Collaborate with R&D teams, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering groups
  • Act as EMC lead on projects, mentoring junior engineers and guiding team performance
  • Support knowledge sharing, process improvement, and innovation initiatives
  • Represent the EMC function in technical meetings and stakeholder discussions

What You BringRequired Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Sciences, or Physics
  • Minimum 8 years of EMC experience (industry and/or academic)
  • At least 4 years of aerospace EMC certification/qualification experience
  • Strong knowledge of EMC standards (RTCA/DO-160, SAE ARPs)
  • Familiarity with airworthiness regulations (TCCA, FAA, EASA)
  • Proven experience in system analysis, testing, and certification processes
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience participating in aircraft development programs
  • Expertise in electromagnetic simulation tools
  • Recognized specialization in one or more EMC disciplines
  • Experience with multidisciplinary collaboration and leadership
  • Knowledge of the aviation industry and product lifecycle support
  • Bilingual (French/English) is an asset

Pay Details: $74.64 to $104.55 per hour
