Job description

Associate Level Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer

Company:

Boeing Global Services (BGS) Cabin, Modifications, Maintenance (CMM)is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate Level Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer to join this talented and fast paced BGS CMM - Systems Engineering team, reporting to the BGS CMM Avionics Manager in Long Beach, California.

The engineer will join and lead and inspire a group of employees performing engineering, technical, and regulatory tasks that provide engineering solutions for multiple Boeing Global Services commercial modifications business units.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops and validates electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) requirements for various communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems, subsystems, components, interconnects and structures.
  • Coordinate, test, and verify EMI/EMC requirements with teammates, customers, and system architects through the development and sustainment of various Boeing systems
  • Develop EMI/EMC Control Plans, Test Procedures, and Test Reports
  • Perform EMI/EMC analyses and implement mitigation mechanisms to assure compatibility and safety of new and existing systems and interfaces
  • Develop the evaluation of supplier data and design drawings to verify and correct system design to EMI/EMC standards
  • Assist with EMI/EMC testing of hardware and software systems in both lab and on-aircraft environments to verify adherence to Boeing and FAA requirements
  • Support project management by tracking and reporting project status, by generating bids and requirements, and by providing work statement, budget, and schedule
  • Perform HIRF/Lightning and Antenna Coupling analyses and test
  • Apply EMI engineering technology experience to document and solve complex problems
  • Perform trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analyses to predict component, interconnects, and system performance and to optimize design
  • Apply conversion, correction, and antenna factors to EMI/EMC analyses and test
  • Assist with EMI/EMC testing of hardware and software systems in both lab and on-aircraft environments to verify adherence to Boeing and FAA requirements
  • Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by recommending engineering solutions to issues and performing root-cause analysis of anomalies and other engineering support as requested

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Engineering experience with EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) or E3 (Electromagnetic Environmental Effects)
  • Willing & able to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally
