How much do embedded trainer jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 4, 2026, the average hourly pay for embedded trainer in the United States is $27.04, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $18.99 and $31.25 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Embedded Trainer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Embedded Trainer, you need a solid background in instructional design, subject matter expertise, and relevant educational qualifications, such as a degree in education or training and development. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools, and digital collaboration platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, adaptability, and interpersonal skills help engage learners and tailor content to diverse audiences. These skills are crucial for effectively delivering training that enhances workforce performance and meets organizational goals.

What are some typical challenges faced by Embedded Trainers when working with cross-functional teams?

Embedded Trainers often collaborate with engineers, project managers, and end-users to develop and deliver training tailored to specific technologies or systems. A common challenge is bridging the communication gap between technical and non-technical team members to ensure everyone understands the training content. Additionally, trainers may need to quickly adapt to frequent updates or changes in embedded systems, requiring ongoing learning and flexibility. Building strong relationships and maintaining open communication with all stakeholders is key to overcoming these challenges and delivering effective training.

What does an Embedded Trainer do?

An Embedded Trainer is a professional who works on-site within an organization to provide hands-on training and support to employees. Their main responsibility is to deliver tailored instruction, guidance, and coaching directly in the workplace, ensuring that staff develop the necessary skills and knowledge relevant to their roles. Embedded Trainers often collaborate closely with teams to address specific learning needs, help implement new processes, and support ongoing professional development. This approach allows for immediate feedback and adaptation of training to real-world challenges, resulting in more effective learning outcomes.

What is the difference between Embedded Trainer vs Technical Trainer?

AspectEmbedded TrainerTechnical Trainer
CredentialsTypically requires certifications in embedded systems, programming, or hardwareRequires certifications in specific technical fields, software, or hardware training
Work EnvironmentWorks closely with engineering teams, often on-site in manufacturing or development facilitiesWorks in training centers, corporate offices, or online, delivering technical courses
Employer & IndustryCommon in electronics, automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing industriesFound across IT, software, manufacturing, and corporate sectors

Embedded Trainers focus on teaching embedded systems and hardware integration, often working directly with engineering teams. Technical Trainers provide instruction on specific technical skills or software, usually in classroom or online settings. While both roles require technical certifications, their work environments and industry applications differ, making each role unique in its focus and delivery method.

Job description

Embedded Software Engineer, Implant Embedded Systems

Austin, Texas, United States; South San Francisco, California, United States

About Neuralink:

We are creating devices that enable a bi-directional interface with the brain. These devices allow us to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize how humans interact with their digital world.

Team Description:

Join the Brain Interfaces Embedded Systems Team and be part of an elite team of engineers working on high-performance, safety-critical embedded systems for the next-generation brain-computer interfaces. You will have the opportunity to work closely with chip designers, electrical engineers, and software engineers on a small, fast-moving team.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

We are looking for experienced, hands-on engineers who are interested in exploring what's possible in highly powered and latency-constrained environments. Firmware is the kernel of operation for the implant, and you have the chance to define and implement features that have a significant impact on the product's capabilities. As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be expected to:

  • Own complex challenges from definition to solution
  • Utilize your ability to work cross functionally to deliver safety critical systems while considering power, radio, and thermal requirements
  • Take ownership of products and/or core features; from planning and design to execution and testing
  • Build on your fundamental understanding of hardware while contributing to bare-metal firmware
  • Embrace a fast-paced iterative environment that prioritizes shipping manufacturable solutions

Note: The team is hiring embedded engineers at all levels, both junior and senior. What matters most is evidence of exceptional abilities and a drive to succeed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, related field, or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of experience with embedded systems (including internships)
  • Proficient in embedded C or Rust
  • Ability to design bare-metal embedded systems in highly constrained environments
  • Strong Electrical Engineering fundamentals
  • Signal processing fundamentals
  • You find enormous challenges exciting and enjoy discovering and defining problems as much as solving them
  • You deliver. You may enjoy thoughtful conversations about problems and perfecting design, but in the end, you know that delivering reliable manufacturable solutions matters
  • You are a cross-disciplinary team member. You are excited to work with and learn from chip designers to neuroscientists

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with embedded stacks for ARM cores
  • Experience with safety-critical systems
  • Experience with FPGA development and testing
  • Experience with RF, BLE, TCP/IP stacks from a practical embedded perspective
  • Prior work or experience with applied cryptography and embedded systems security

Expected Compensation:

The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the following range. Your actual base pay will be determined by your job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. We also believe in aligning our employees' success with the company's long-term growth. As such, in addition to base salary, Neuralink offers equity compensation (in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSU)) for all full-time employees.

Base Salary Range:

$119,000 - $281,000 USD

What We Offer:

  • An opportunity to change the world and work with some of the smartest and most talented experts from different fields
  • Growth potential; we rapidly advance team members who have an outsized impact
  • Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance through a PPO plan
  • Paid holidays
  • Commuter benefits
  • Meals provided
  • Equity (RSUs) *Temporary Employees & Interns excluded
  • 401(k) plan *Interns initially excluded until they work 1,000 hours
  • Parental leave *Temporary Employees & Interns excluded
  • Flexible time off *Temporary Employees & Interns excluded
