Your Role in Keeping the Future in Safe Hands...

The Embedded Systems Engineer - Hardware & Firmware leads embedded hardware and firmware architecture, development, integration, validation, and support for next-generation access control and security products from concept through production.

This hands-on role partners across software, mechanical engineering, product management, manufacturing, quality, and customer support to deliver secure, robust, and scalable solutions.

What you will do...

Embedded Hardware & System Architecture

  • Lead embedded hardware platforms for access control, credential readers, door controllers, wireless and sensing devices, and connected security products.
  • Define system architectures and select processors, memory, wireless modules, sensors, power components, communication interfaces, security features, and peripherals.
  • Create schematics and guide PCB layout and reviews for signal and power integrity, grounding and shielding, EMI/EMC mitigation, and thermal performance.
  • Conduct board bring-up, validation, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis; support product qualification and manufacturing transfer.

Embedded Firmware & Secure Connectivity

  • Develop and maintain embedded C/C++ firmware, including drivers, hardware abstraction layers, diagnostics, bootloaders, device-management functions, and application code.
  • Implement bare-metal and RTOS-based solutions, including task scheduling, interrupts, inter-process communication, timers, and resource management.
  • Develop secure firmware architectures and apply embedded cybersecurity best practices, secure coding, and appropriate cryptographic controls.
  • Integrate wired and wireless connections to cloud, mobile, and enterprise systems; debug, optimize, validate, and sustain firmware throughout the product lifecycle.

Product Development, Verification & Support

  • Contribute across concept, architecture, prototyping, verification, certification, production launch, and sustaining engineering.
  • Partner across teams to ensure integration, manufacturability, quality, and supportability; maintain specifications, test plans, manufacturing documentation, and engineering change records.
  • Support customer-issue investigations and field problem resolution using disciplined analysis and clear technical communication.
  • Support FCC, CE, UL, EMC/EMI, RoHS, REACH, and related compliance activities; evaluate emerging technologies, standards, tools, and architectures.
