Description

Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to support the development of advanced software systems for a military aircraft platforms. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to mission-critical avionics and embedded capabilities that enable the performance, safety, and effectiveness of next-generation military aviation systems.

This position requires a software engineer to use a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the software field to develop, integrate, and test software products. The successful candidate will be a member of a high-performing multi-site team and must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, time-management, and interpersonal skills. In this role, you will work independently at times on projects, at other times will be in a collaborative team environment with other software engineers, as well as other program development and deployment teams.

Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Continued eligibility for access to classified information is required throughout employment, as dictated by program needs.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent in a STEM discipline
  • 5+ years of embedded software development experience
  • C++ development for safety-critical avionics systems
  • Real-Time Operating Systems (MOSA.ic, VxWorks, Integrity)
  • Embedded application development using RTOS and Windows environments
  • Prior SW Development and Integration experience utilizing the following communications protocols (MIL-STD-1553 & Ethernet)
  • Software integration & test in lab and hardware environments
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Ability to work onsite 100%
  • Ability to travel 10%

Preferred / Additional Skills

  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience utilizing Greenhills ARINC 653/APEX API
  • Experience developing software for Electronic Warfare and Self Protection Systems ((ALQ-213, ALE-47, AN/AAR-47, AN/ALR-56M)
  • Familiarity with software requirements development utilizing IBM DOORS
  • Experience updating/reviewing software documentation (SRS/IRS, SDD/IDD, STP, STD, STR, etc)
  • Proficient with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.)
  • Version control and issue tracking (Gitlab, Atlassian suite)
  • Hardware/software integration and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Wireshark and Lua script plugins
  • Experience with safety-critical software development and practices (DO-178C)
  • Experience communicating and documenting complex technical designs
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
