Position: Embedded Software Engineer
Location: Manhattan Beach, CA
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer, Test & Verification to support the development and validation of mission-critical embedded software systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in automated software testing, C/C++ development, and requirements verification within a structured software engineering environment. This role involves working throughout the software development lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions for complex real-time systems.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated software test solutions for embedded systems.
Verify software functionality and performance against system and software requirements.
Develop and execute test procedures, test scripts, and verification plans.
Support software integration, validation, debugging, and troubleshooting activities.
Collaborate with software, systems, hardware, and integration engineers throughout the development lifecycle.
Analyze system capabilities, software behavior, and performance characteristics to identify and resolve issues.
Participate in requirements analysis, design reviews, code reviews, and test readiness reviews.
Document test results, verification evidence, and software quality metrics.
Ensure compliance with established software development processes, quality standards, and engineering best practices.
Support software development in resource-constrained and real-time operating environments.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across software testing and verification activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
5+ years of professional software engineering or software test engineering experience.
Strong software development experience using C/C++.
Experience with automated software testing and verification methodologies.
Experience performing requirements-based verification and validation of embedded software systems.
Knowledge of formal software verification processes and methodologies for validating functional and performance requirements.
Understanding of the complete software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, integration, testing, and maintenance.
Experience working within structured development environments utilizing Waterfall, Agile, Spiral, or hybrid processes.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively within large, cross-functional engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Embedded Linux environments.
Experience with VxWorks RTOS and Wind River development tools.
Knowledge of real-time embedded systems, processors, memory architectures, and I/O interfaces.
Experience supporting space, aerospace, defense, or other safety-critical software programs.
Familiarity with object-oriented software design and development.
Experience developing or testing software for resource-constrained environments with real-time performance requirements.
