Position Summary
The Senior Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining embedded software throughout the entire product development lifecycle. This role works closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure software meets technical, quality, and regulatory requirements while supporting high-reliability embedded systems. The engineer will also contribute to software verification, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement in a regulated development environment.
U.S. Person status required as defined by applicable export control regulations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded software from concept through product release and ongoing support.
  • Create, review, and manage software requirements while ensuring complete traceability throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Develop, review, and maintain high-quality source code in accordance with established coding standards.
  • Debug and troubleshoot embedded software on both target hardware and simulated environments.
  • Investigate software defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective solutions.
  • Utilize software analysis tools to evaluate performance metrics, including memory utilization, processor timing, stack usage, and code coverage.
  • Develop software verification strategies and test plans to validate functional and performance requirements.
  • Support software validation activities by analyzing, documenting, and resolving verification issues.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful product development and compliance with project objectives.
  • Assist with customer, regulatory, and internal audits by preparing technical documentation and providing engineering support.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance software quality, reliability, and development efficiency.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience developing embedded software systems.
  • Strong understanding of embedded microcontroller architectures, hardware interfaces, and system operation.
  • Experience developing software in compliance with functional safety or design assurance standards such as DO-178 or IEC 61508.
  • Advanced proficiency in the C programming language.
  • Experience using source code management and version control systems.
  • Familiarity with application lifecycle management tools supporting requirements management, traceability, verification, validation, and issue tracking.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve software issues in embedded environments using hardware targets and simulation tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to support long-term engineering programs throughout extended product development cycles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of MISRA C coding guidelines and best practices.
  • Familiarity with power electronics principles and embedded control systems.
  • Experience preparing technical presentations and participating in customer or regulatory audits.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and hardware documentation.
  • Experience supporting the development of electrical power systems for military or aerospace applications.
  • U.S. Person status as defined by applicable export control regulations.

Salary Range: $90,000-$130,000
