Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Software Engineer - Embedded and Real Time to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located onsite in Melbourne, FL.

Essential Functions:

  • Work in an innovative environment, on significantly diverse assignments, and in collaborative team settings across all levels
  • Participate in the full software development life cycle including requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of software products to our customers
  • Architect and develop embedded mission systems software applications on a real time operating system
  • Be a part of Agile Scrum teams to develop software products for multiple software baselines

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 8 years of related experience; OR Masters degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years of related experience; OR PhD with 4 year of related experience
  • Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) - software design requirements, application development, integration, testing, and deployment
  • Recent professional experience developing software in C++ and/or Python
  • Recent professional experience developing and/or testing advanced weapons software
  • Familiar with Architecting, Designing, Implementing, Integrating, Verifying and Qualifying Safety-Critical Embedded Real Time Software running on various RTOS (VxWorks, Integrity, Real Time Embedded Linux).
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance or higher
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of C and C++ languages including templates, memory storage, and compiler/linker.
  • Ability to collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers and integration/test engineers to develop and maintain complex software systems.
  • Experience with Agile Software Development, object-oriented architectures, designs, programming, debugging, and hardware-software integration and testing.
  • Experience with Software Change Control, Change Management, Code Quality, Static Analysis, and CI/CD tools such as: Atlassian tool suite, Jira, GitHub, GitLab, SonarQube, Coverity, AND/OR Jenkins.
  • Experience with DOORs AND/OR Software Requirement Specification Testing using Simulators, automated scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, AND/OR Bash.
  • Experience with Static & Dynamic Code Analysis Tools and Fuzzing Tools such as: Coverity, Fortify, AND/OR SonarQube.
  • Experience architecting, Designing, Modeling (Rhapsody or Cameo), Implementing, Maintaining, integrating, Debugging, Verifying and Qualifying Safety-Critical Embedded Real Time Software written in OO C++ software running on Real-Time Operating systems such as: VxWorks, Integrity, AND/OR Real Time Embedded Linux.
Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
