Job Title: Engineer, Test Engineering
Location: Onsite (Weston, Florida)
Employment Type: 6 months
Pay Rate: $63/hour
About the Role: 

We are seeking a highly motivated Engineer, Test Engineering to join our team on a 6-month contract in Weston, FL. In this role, you will support the verification and validation of embedded software for advanced robotic medical technology platforms. You will collaborate closely with software, systems, and clinical development teams to ensure product quality through comprehensive testing, defect analysis, and integration support.

This is an excellent opportunity for engineers with experience in embedded systems, software testing, automation, and medical device development who thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Support embedded software verification activities for the Mako SmartRobotics platforms, including development testing, dry runs, and formal verification testing.
  • Execute both manual and automated software test protocols and accurately document test results.
  • Analyze test outcomes, identify software defects, and collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Perform software installation, updates, system bring-up, and application integration activities.
  • Partner with Embedded Software Engineering and Clinical Development teams to support integration testing and rapid validation cycles.
  • Develop, modify, and execute automated and manual test scripts using Python, C/C++, and MATLAB.
  • Document test procedures, execution results, and defects using JAMA and Jira.
  • Ensure testing activities are completed in accordance with established quality and engineering processes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for test methods, automation, and validation efficiency.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience in software verification, validation, or test engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with embedded systems testing.
  • Programming experience in one or more of the following:
  • Python
  • C/C++
  • MATLAB
  • Experience executing manual and automated software tests.
  • Familiarity with defect tracking and requirements management tools such as Jira and JAMA.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.

Preferred:
  • Experience in medical devices, robotics, or other regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and software verification methodologies.
  • Experience with hardware/software integration testing.
  • Familiarity with embedded Linux or real-time operating systems is a plus.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
