Job description

Job Title: Test Engineer – Embedded Software and Systems
Job Description

This individual contributor role focuses on testing embedded software, firmware, and hardware within a manufacturing and engineering environment. You will design and execute tests, interact with embedded systems and hardware, and help ensure product quality and reliability. The role requires sound judgment, the application of established engineering procedures, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments to support high-quality product delivery.
  • Design and scale up manufacturing processes, instruments, and equipment used in embedded and software-based systems.
  • Plan, design, and estimate time and cost for engineering projects, including construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems, and components.
  • Test manufactured products, including embedded software and hardware, to maintain and improve quality standards.
  • Analyze and develop solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems, including investigating causes of component or system failures.
  • Develop, document, and apply engineering standards, procedures, and best practices within the test and verification domain.
  • Use embedded systems and software testing techniques to verify functionality, performance, and reliability of products.
  • Interact with hardware using network protocols, digital signal analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment to troubleshoot and validate system behavior.
  • Apply basic testing concepts and methodologies to create, execute, and maintain test cases and test scripts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide technical input on verification strategies and issue resolution.
  • Use professional judgment based on established practices and previous experience to make decisions and solve problems independently.
  • Document test results, issues, and findings clearly and accurately to support traceability and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the application and improvement of software and embedded verification processes, particularly within regulated environments.
Essential Skills
