Position Overview
The Apollo Theater is seeking a strategic, data-driven, and highly collaborative Director of Marketing Operations to lead the systems, processes, and operational infrastructure that power our marketing, communications, audience development, and ticketing functions.
This leadership role will serve as the operational architect for the Growth & Engagement department, establishing best-in-class marketing workflows, campaign management processes, performance measurement frameworks, and cross-functional operating procedures. The Director of Marketing Operations will oversee the trafficking and prioritization of marketing initiatives across social media, email marketing, creative services, video production, content development, and design teams, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and aligned with organizational goals.
The successful candidate will lead the implementation and optimization of marketing technology platforms, data tools, automation systems, and ticketing operations while providing actionable insights that improve audience engagement, revenue generation, campaign effectiveness, and organizational decision-making.
This position requires a highly organized leader with strong project management, marketing operations, analytics, and systems implementation expertise who can bridge strategy and execution across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Operations & Workflow Management
  • Marketing Strategy Execution: Develop and manage operational frameworks that enable the successful execution of integrated marketing and communication strategies.
  • Project Trafficking: Oversee intake, prioritization, scheduling, and trafficking of all marketing initiatives across social media, creative services, content, email, PR, video, and design teams.
  • Workflow Development: Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), project workflows, approval pathways, and campaign processes to improve efficiency and accountability.
  • Resource Planning: Partner with marketing leadership to manage team capacity, production timelines, and resource allocation across multiple campaigns and organizational priorities.
  • Project Management Systems: Lead administration and optimization of project management platforms and workflow tools to enhance collaboration and operational transparency.
Ticketing Operations & Revenue Support
  • Ticketing Management: Oversee end-to-end ticketing operations in partnership with Audience Services and Box Office teams to maximize sales performance and customer experience.
  • Sales Optimization: Monitor ticket sales trends, campaign performance, inventory management, and promotional effectiveness to identify growth opportunities.
  • Pricing & Promotions: Collaborate with leadership to execute pricing strategies, discount programs, subscription initiatives, and audience development campaigns.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Deliver regular ticketing and sales performance reports to stakeholders, identifying key insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Marketing Technology & Automation
  • Marketing Systems Leadership: Serve as the primary owner of marketing technology platforms, including CRM systems, email marketing platforms, audience databases, and automation tools.
  • Marketing Automation: Design, implement, and optimize automated marketing journeys, audience segmentation strategies, lead nurturing campaigns, and customer engagement workflows.
  • Systems Integration: Lead implementation and integration of marketing, ticketing, and data platforms to improve operational efficiency and reporting capabilities.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors, consultants, agencies, and platform partners.
Data, Analytics & Performance Measurement
  • Performance Frameworks: Establish KPIs, dashboards, and reporting systems that provide visibility into campaign performance, audience engagement, ticket sales, and marketing effectiveness.
  • Data Strategy: Develop systems that ensure accurate data collection, governance, quality control, and accessibility across departments.
  • Audience Insights: Partner with Growth & Engagement leadership to analyze audience behavior and identify opportunities for acquisition, retention, and engagement.
  • Executive Reporting: Create executive-level reports and presentations that summarize performance, trends, opportunities, and strategic recommendations.

Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Operational Alignment: Serve as the primary liaison between Growth & Engagement, Audience Services, IT, Finance, Programming, Development, and Production teams on operational initiatives.
  • Change Management: Lead departmental adoption of new technologies, processes, and operational standards through training, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Process Improvement: Identify operational bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions that improve effectiveness across teams.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor marketing operations personnel and external partners, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in marketing operations, marketing technology, project management, ticketing operations, or related fields, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success building and optimizing marketing workflows, campaign operations, project management systems, and cross-functional processes.
  • Experience managing ticketing platforms and performing arts, entertainment, cultural institution, or event-based sales environments is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced experience with CRM platforms, marketing automation systems, email marketing platforms, analytics dashboards, and project management tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience developing KPIs, reporting frameworks, dashboards, and performance measurement systems.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, influence cross-functional partners, and drive organizational adoption of new systems and processes.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights.
  • Strategic thinker with a solutions-oriented approach, strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in arts and culture, nonprofit organizations, performing arts venues, entertainment, media, or live events.
  • Familiarity with ticketing platforms such as Ticketmaster, Spektrix, or similar systems.
  • Experience with HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, Power BI, Tableau, Asana, Monday.com, Airtable, or similar platforms.
