Overview

The Director of Marketing & Communications is responsible for developing and executing an integrated marketing and communications strategy that strengthens MPR's brand, supports business development, and positions the company as a trusted leader across its five business areas. This role oversees corporate communications, brand management, digital marketing, thought leadership, proposals support, content strategy, public relations, and internal communications.

Reporting to an MPR Principal Officer, the Director collaborates closely with business area leaders to align marketing initiatives with strategic growth objectives while managing one direct report and coordinating external agencies, consultants, and vendors as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with the company's strategic plan and revenue growth objectives.
  • Partner with executive leadership and business area leaders to identify market opportunities, strengthen competitive positioning, and increase brand visibility.
  • Develop annual marketing plans, budgets, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and brand standards across all business areas and communication channels.

Brand Management

  • Serve as the steward of the company's brand identity and value proposition.
  • Maintain consistency in visual identity, messaging, and positioning across all internal and external communications.
  • Lead brand evolution initiatives that reflect the company's technical expertise, culture, and strategic direction.

Business Development Support

  • Collaborate with business development teams to develop marketing materials that support client acquisition and retention.
  • Oversee development of brochures, presentations, qualification packages, project sheets, case studies, and other collateral,
  • Support major proposal pursuits by providing strategic messaging, graphics coordination, and quality review.
  • Promote cross-selling opportunities among the company's five business areas.

Communications

  • Lead external communications including press releases, media relations, awards submissions, speaking engagements, and industry recognition.
  • Develop executive communications and thought leadership content.
  • Oversee internal communications that reinforce company culture, strategic initiatives, employee engagement and other opportunities to reinforce shared consciousness across the company and within its individual business units.

Digital Marketing

  • Direct website strategy, content management, search engine optimization (SEO), email marketing, and social media programs.
  • Monitor digital performance and recommend improvements based on analytics.
  • Manage content calendars that showcase technical expertise, client success stories, innovation, and company culture.

Content Development

  • Working with company thought and business leaders:
    • Lead creation of high-quality technical and marketing content including:
      • Articles and blogs
      • White papers
      • Client success stories
      • Videos
      • Technical insights
      • Recruiting materials
      • Presentation materials
    • Translate complex engineering and consulting concepts into compelling, client-focused messaging.

Events and Industry Engagement

  • Develop marketing strategies supporting conferences, trade shows, client events, webinars, and sponsorships.
  • Coordinate promotional materials and event communications.
  • Identify opportunities to elevate company visibility within target industries and professional organizations.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise, direct, and mentor a marketing professional who supports these efforts.
  • Manage relationships with graphic designers, photographers, writers, web developers, public relations firms, and other external vendors.
  • Foster a collaborative, service-oriented marketing function that supports all business areas.

Analytics and Performance

  • Establish KPIs to measure marketing effectiveness.
  • Track campaign performance, website analytics, lead generation, brand awareness, and return on marketing investment.
  • Prepare regular reports for executive leadership with recommendations for continuous improvement.
Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum of a four-year degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field is required.

Experience

  • Ten or more years of marking and communications experience, preferably within engineering consulting, or other professional services organizations.
  • Experience developing integrated marketing strategies that support multiple business lines.
  • Experience with CRM platforms, marketing analytics tools, and proposal management software.

  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize work to meet commitments
  • Ability to multi-task across teams of engineers and managers on various projects

Position Type: Full-time, exempt

Travel: Less than 15% as required by project assignments, and visits between MPR offices

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $225,000 annually. Actual compensation is based on several factors, including but not limited to experience, internal parity, education, and skills. We offer comprehensive healthcare benefits (medical, dental, vision), flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts, a 401(k) and profit sharing, as well as paid time off.
