  • Production Report to Management Company and Governmental Agencies as Requiredย 
  • Injury/Illness reports, Witness Statements, OSHA 200 Log, USCG 2692 Form, Medical Log, Clinic Authorizations, Alcohol Testing, Drug Testingย 
  • Medical Emergencies and Supplies Management, work with MHS over the phone during emergencies, make Clinic Appointments, arrange Crewmember Emergency Departures,Reportingof all Emergency Situations as Required, Witness Statements, Written Statement, Ordering Medical Supplies,Inventorying Medical Suppliesย 
  • NMFS Reporting: EEZ Crossing, Cease/Begin Reports, Daily Logbook, Weekly Report, Product Transfer Report, Submission of Yellow Sheets Quarterly, Observer Data, Catch Data to ASC Accounting, Records of Home Packs, Donations, and Fisch Consumed Onboard, Catch Logย 
  • Arrange and manage Safety Bingoย 
  • Computer and Other Electronic Equipment Use: NT Server, Observer Computer, Purser Computer, Fax Machine, Black Box, JRC, Cell Phones, and Crewmember Communications Computerย 
  • Offload Pack: Manifests, Mateโ€™s Receipts, HR Paperwork, Injury/Illness Reports,ย FishmealSamplesย 
  • Crew Needs: Medical treatment/attention as needed, Changes to W-4, Address etc., Cabย Vouchers, Travel Arrangements, Work Gear Check-Out, Office Supplies, Extension Sign-Up, Life Raft Organization,ย MSDS, Diversity and/or Incident Statements, Contracts, Newspaper, In-town Purchasesย 

Additional Duties if Applicable:USCG Arrival Reports, Docking Reports,Trim Fuel Tanks, Assist Navigation and Watch,Safety Inspection Assistance,Safety Training Assistance for Crew, Stability Calculationsย 

  • Correction to Navigational charts and Publicationsย 
  • Inspections of firefighting equipment (fire extinguishers and fixed fire systems)ย 
  • Inspections of SCBAโ€™s (self-contained breathing apparatus)ย 
  • Testing of EPIRBโ€™s monthlyย 
  • Survival suit inspections and inventoryย 
  • Pyrotechnics (flares-smokes) inspections and inventoryย 
  • Inspections of Life-rings and smoke-buoysand lights attached to Life-ringsย 
  • Log bookentries into Official Bridge Log every 4 hours (weather, course, speed, activity, etc.)ย 
  • Log bookentries of Safety Inspectionsย 
  • Maintain garbage log---MARPOLย 

FCC Requirements As assigned to individuals as needed:ย 

  • Inspections and Testing of GMDSS Console daily,maintainlogbookย 
  • Office of Marine Safety, WA State---whileoperatingin Washington state waters,maintainlogbooks,manningrequirements, inspections per Washington state laws.ย 
  • Maintain up-to-date certificate file (expirationdates) forย Maritimeย Compliance Officerย 
  • Yearly EPA Report forย Operationsย ย 
  • Fishing in Alaska/Outside of Alaska Annual Report for Operationsย 

Skill and Experience Requiredย 

Coast Guard License Uninspected Fishing Industry Vessel licenseย required:ย Near Coastal butย Oceansย is preferredย โ€“ 1,600 to 5,000 GRTย ย 

  • Minimum 3 yearsโ€™experience as 2ndMate of Fishing Vesselsparticipatingin fisheries in Alaskan or Russian watersย ย 
  • Mustpossessexcellent communication abilities, organizational abilities, and intense detail management abilities, including interpersonal skillsnecessary to foster cooperationย 
  • Above average computer skills to include competence in Windows based programs,AmosDData Base,ย some network understandingย 
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work both supervised and independently as neededย 
  • Advanced First Aid trainingย 
  • Ability toassistand counsel vessel employees when appropriateย 

Physical Abilityย 

  • Must meet US Coast Guard licensing standardsregardingphysical condition,hearingand eyesight minimumsย 
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug testsย 
  • Must be capable of boarding and exiting a vessel without physicalassistanceby climbing up and down a gangplank or using a Jacobโ€™s ladderย 
  • Must climb or descend one or more set of steep stairs, or vertical ladders inside and outside the vessel in all weather conditions as extreme as 30 degrees below zeroย

Work Scheduleย 

  • 12 hours or more per day for the duration of the trip,including loading and unloadingย 
  • Ability to work at sea for extended periods of timeย 

Compensationย and Benefitsย 

  • Crew share based pay, estimated range of $8,000 - $10,000 per tripย DOEย (average of two trips per month)ย 

*Crew shareโ€“based paymeans compensation is tied to the vesselโ€™s catch rather than a fixed hourly or daily wage. Pay varies by trip and reflects overall catch size and performance. Each fishing trip typically lasts 14โ€“21 days, though trip length may vary depending on fishing conditions.ย
