Job description

Build Relationships That Change Lives!

At LifeTree, we believe every great relationship begins with a meaningful conversation

As a Family Engagement Specialist, you'll be the first voice prospective Families hear when they contact LifeTree. Your job isn't simply answering questions or collecting information, but rather creating an immediate human connection, understanding what matters most to each individual, and helping them determine whether LifeTree is the right fit.

This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys talking with people. You know how to make others feel comfortable within minutes, ask thoughtful questions, listen for what's not being said, and guide conversations naturally without sounding scripted or "salesy."

If you love connecting with people, thrive on the phone, and enjoy helping others make informed decisions, we'd love to meet you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build Meaningful Connections
    • Serve as the first point of contact for prospective Families by phone.
    • Create an engaging and welcoming first impression that reflects LifeTree's culture and values.
    • Establish trust quickly while making each caller feel heard and understood.
  • Lead Consultative Conversations
    • Ask thoughtful questions to understand each individual's goals, motivations, and concerns.
    • Listen carefully for opportunities to provide guidance and personalize the conversation.
    • Explain LifeTree's services, culture, and expectations in a way that is clear, genuine, and compelling.
    • Help prospective Families determine whether LifeTree is the right fit for them—and whether they are the right fit for LifeTree.
  • Guide the Engagement Process
    • Qualify prospective Families based on program requirements.
    • Address questions, concerns, and hesitation with confidence, empathy, and professionalism.
    • Keep conversations moving forward while never making people feel pressured.
  • Own the Follow-up
    • Maintain consistent follow-up with prospective Families throughout the intake process.
    • Re-engage individuals who may have gone quiet and help move them toward onboarding.
    • Ensure no qualified Family falls through the cracks.
  • Partner with the Team
    • Work closely with onboarding, Human Resources, and operational teams to ensure smooth transitions from intake through onboarding.
    • Communicate important details uncovered during conversations that will help create an exceptional onboarding experience.

You’d Be a Great Fit If:

  • You genuinely enjoy talking with people.
  • Picking up the phone isn't something you avoid - it's where you do your best work.
  • You know how to build rapport naturally, earn trust quickly, and make conversations feel authentic rather than transactional.
  • You ask thoughtful questions, listen more than you talk, and pay attention to the small details others often miss. You're naturally curious and can identify the "threads" people leave throughout a conversation, allowing you to connect on a deeper level and guide the discussion naturally.
  • You're confident enough to lead conversations but humble enough to listen first.
  • Most importantly, people enjoy talking with you.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years in intake, business development, inside sales, recruitment, or a high-volume consultative customer support role.
  • Outstanding verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable spending a significant portion of the day on the phone.
  • Strong proficiency with email management, Excel, and data systems.
  • Strong active listening skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up habits.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Healthcare, home care, or DDD experience is a plus.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Why Join LifeTree?

  • Competitive pay ($24–$25/hr depending on experience)
  • Supportive leadership and admin team — we value communication and growth
  • Paid training and ongoing support
  • Make an impact by supporting providers and improving care delivery for individuals with special needs
