Elwyn seeks a Janitor to perform direct janitorial services in offices, restrooms, and other areas as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs general cleaning tasks in office, restrooms, and other general areas as assigned, including but not limited to vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, stripping and waxing floors, and cleaning toilets and sinks
  • Performs tasks to an acceptable level of quality, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the task by providing more than a surface cleaning and completes the assigned tasks in a timely manner, in conjunction with approved procedural requirements
  • Communicates effectively with other team members regarding the coordination of tasks that impact the work or working conditions of the other team members
  • Brings correct tools and supplies to the work area for each assigned task
  • Stays at the assigned work area until job is completed and informs supervisor if assigned tasks are not completed by the end of shift or outside of the given daily scheduled timeframe
  • Keeps area neat while working and keeps cleaning cart properly stocked
  • Informs supervisor or designee when supplies are low and need to be ordered
  • Seeks out work that needs to be done, works on ongoing projects, and assists others as requested
  • Reports any maintenance needs (e.g. unsafe or broken sinks and toilets, light bulbs needing to be replaced) to supervisor
  • Adapts to changes in workload, following through with the change as assigned
  • Assists supervision and management in performing contractual requirements, including but not limited to snow removal as needed
  • Accepts feedback on job performance in a professional manner using it to improve performance as needed
  • Addresses visitors and co-workers in a pleasant and respectful manner and displays courtesy at all times
  • Works effectively with a variety of staff members, regardless of varied ethnic, racial and sociological backgrounds
  • Responds appropriately to inquiries and requests in a friendly, cooperative manner
  • Deals with constant interruptions with respect and courtesy
  • Performs all duties in an independent manner, with little or no need for direct supervision
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
  • Thorough understanding of the cleaning requirements preferred
  • Meet and maintain Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD) 12 clearance
  • A current Real ID or valid U.S. Passport is required for this position to obtain the necessary security clearances at designated federal job sites.
