OVERALL SUMMARY
The individual will be responsible for managing part of the Elliott Equipment supply base including all functions from the source to contract and procure to pay cycles. The responsibilities will include identifying new sources, issuing / managing RFQ/RFP, negotiating the purchase of and expediting of supplies, managing the purchase order process and resolving any issues related to such purchases. The individual will also be involved in the purchasing phases of new product development and prototyping.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Negotiate contracts to procure materials, equipment, and services.
  • Issue purchase orders, expedite and follow-up on all objectives
  • Establish and manage supplier relationships
  • Develop new sources for purchasing products
  • Communicate and collaborate with other teams / job functions
  • Ensure vendors and suppliers are aware of our corporate objectives, expectations, and quality standards.
  • Support manufacturing Operations and quality departments in resolving any supplier related issues
  • Track and manage supplier performance against companys goals and objectives
  • Support new product development / new product introduction by participating in multidisciplinary development process.
  • Help manage supply chain initiatives to achieve the companys goals

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Individual must possess these knowledges, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Sound negotiating skills
  • MRP system knowledge required
  • Solid understanding of the procure to pay process
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings / requirements (preferred)
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Intermediate computer skills, MRP, MS Office and other applications
  • Ability to resolve conflicts in a courteous and professional manner
  • Capable of learning / implementing new programs
  • Solid understanding of inventory management methods (consignment, vendor managed inventories, Kanban purchases)
  • Basic understanding of lean manufacturing principles (preferred)
  • CPSM certification (preferred)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in business, finance or related area
  • Five years of progressive purchasing experience in the manufacturing industry.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
