Job description

Cleveland Clinic is currently seeking Anesthesiologist Assistants (AAs) for exciting opportunities at Mercy Hospital, located in the city of Canton, Ohio.

Mercy Hospital is a tertiary care facility and a Level 2 Trauma Center. We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative work environment where Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAAs), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and Medical Doctor Anesthesiologists (MDAs) share responsibilities and hold each other's contributions in high regard.

At Mercy Hospital, our team tackles a wide variety of cases including general surgery, orthopedics, neurology, plastics, vascular, cardiothoracic, gastroenterology, obstetrics, and some pediatrics. We have 15 operating rooms, an endoscopy suite, and a cardio suite, ensuring a dynamic and diverse work experience.

Administers anesthesia to patients rendering them insensitive to pain during surgery. Monitors the patient's physical reaction to the anesthetic and informs the physician of any adverse condition. Administers emergency measures when complications arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtains a comprehensive patient history and performs relevant elements of a physical exam.
  • Discusses findings and anesthetic plan with supervising anesthesiologist before induction of anesthesia.
  • Reviews the patient's condition with the anesthesiologist immediately prior to the induction of anesthesia.
  • Pretests and calibrates anesthesia delivery systems.
  • Administers blood, blood products and supportive fluids.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an institution of higher learning accredited by an organization recognized by the board of regents.

Certifications:

  • Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants.
  • Current, valid certificate of registration.
  • Written practice protocol consistent with section 4760.09 of the Revised Code.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) are required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

WorkExperience:

  • None required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions of working irregular hours.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range

Minimum Annual Salary: $230,000.00

Maximum Annual Salary: $299,000.00

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. Actual compensation may be higher or lower than the standard range, depending on factors such as job responsibilities, relevant experience, skills, scheduling requirements, education, and area of licensure. Please note, the displayed pay range does not include additional pay practices or the value of Cleveland Clinic's comprehensive benefits package (including healthcare, dental and vision coverage, retirement savings contributions, and more). The listed range is based on a full-time (1.0 FTE) with the exception of PRN positions, which have an hourly rate based on the position type.
