Grinder / Heavy Equipment Operator

Winston Salem, NC

Hourly / Full-Time

About the Role:

The Equipment Operator (Grinder Operator) plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process by ensuring that materials are processed efficiently and to the highest quality standards. This position involves operating grinding machinery to shape and finish products, which directly impacts the overall production output and quality. The operator will be responsible for monitoring equipment performance and making necessary adjustments to maintain optimal operation. Safety and adherence to operational protocols are paramount, as the role involves working with heavy machinery in a dynamic environment. Ultimately, the success of the production line relies heavily on the skills and diligence of the Grinder Operator.

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs various project work which requires safely operating vehicles and a variety of heavy/agricultural equipment that may include, but is not limited to; grinders, front-end loaders, skid steers, track-hoes, and bulldozers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Ability to operate heavy or agricultural equipment safely.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Ability to follow directions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical certification in machining or a related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on quality control.
  • Familiarity with CNC machinery and programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Always operate equipment in a safe manner
  • Perform loading, unloading, and timely delivery of material to assigned/approved destination.
  • Serve as a company ambassador in every interaction with clients and the public.
  • Conduct daily inspections and perform preventative maintenance on the equipment.
  • Perform shop clean-up, maintenance, and equipment/tools setup.
  • Maintain operation records.

Qualifications:

  • Operate heavy/agricultural equipment safely
  • Verbal and Written Communication
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Clean MVR

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment operator work experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of grinder operator work experience preferred.
  • Clean MVR

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting, Climbing, Balancing, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Feeling, lifting to 50 lbs., Talking, Hearing, and Seeing
  • The employee is subject to confined spaces.
  • The employee is subject to outside environmental conditions: No effective protection from weather.
  • The employee is subject to atmospheric conditions.
  • The employee is subject to hazards: Including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat, or exposure to bio-solids.
  • This position requires overtime.
