Elephants are the largest land mammals in the world, belonging to the family Elephantidae. There are three main species: the African bush elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant. They play a crucial role in their ecosystems by helping shape their habitats, such as by dispersing seeds and creating water holes used by other animals.
