Zookeepers and wildlife specialists working with elephants often encounter challenges such as managing the animals' large size and strength, ensuring their complex social and enrichment needs are met, and monitoring their health closely due to elephants' susceptibility to certain diseases. Collaboration with veterinarians, nutritionists, and behaviorists is essential to provide comprehensive care. Additionally, adapting to each elephant's unique personality and behavioral patterns requires patience and strong observational skills.

What are elephants?

Elephants are the largest land mammals in the world, belonging to the family Elephantidae. There are three main species: the African bush elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant. Elephants are known for their long trunks, large ears, and strong social bonds within their herds. They play a crucial role in their ecosystems by helping shape their habitats, such as by dispersing seeds and creating water holes used by other animals.

RN/LPN – Compassionate Home Care (Action Movies & Elephants Included!)

Centria Healthcare is looking for dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) to join a stellar care team in Michigan. If you thrive in a supportive environment where you are never working solo, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a nurse for a 69-year-old female client who is a quadriplegic with a trach. She is described by everyone who meets her as "super sweet." Her home is a warm, clean, and joyful environment filled with her favorite thing: elephants!

When she isn't enjoying her elephant collection, she loves listening to gospel music, staying active with her church community, and binge-watching action and comedy movies.

The Centria Difference: "Double 24/7" Support

We believe our nurses do their best work when they feel supported. This case is a Double 24/7, meaning:

  • You are never alone: There is always a Nurse and a Home Health Aide working concurrently on every shift.
  • Teamwork: You’ll have a partner to assist with transfers, ADLs, and ensuring the highest level of safety and fall prevention.
  • Family Involvement: Her family is wonderful, highly involved, and supportive of the care team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tracheostomy Care: Frequent suctioning and scheduled trach changes.
  • Respiratory Support: Utilization of a cough assist machine.
  • ADLs & Safety: Assisting with basic daily living activities and maintaining strict fall prevention protocols.
  • Supervision: Providing consistent monitoring in a clean, pet-free home.

Schedule & Requirements

  • Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Day Shift)
  • Flexibility: We offer flexible days to fit your lifestyle.
  • Credentials: Must hold a valid Michigan RN or LPN license.
  • Vibe Check: A positive attitude and a love for gospel music or a good action flick is a huge plus!

Why Work with Centria Healthcare?
