Job description

Our client is a trading firm with over 30 years of experience, using advanced technology and skilled people to work in markets around the world. They're based in Chicago, but have offices across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia. They trade in various asset types, such as Fixed Income, Equities, ETFs, Commodities, and FX.
Your tasks will include:
  • Collaborating with a Chicago based team to provide exceptional production support, efficient software deployment, proactive monitoring, and effective configuration processes
  • Ensuring maximal trading system availability
  • Offering support for diverse trading groups' production systems across various asset classes and geographic locations
  • Developing in-house process automation and monitoring tools while leveraging third-party technologies where suitable
  • Troubleshooting incidents in trading system production due to internal or external factors
  • Automating software configuration and deployment procedures for error reduction and flawless change management
  • Supporting primary market connectivity and communicating with exchanges regarding trading order activity, connectivity, and other technical support issues
  • Collaborating with a variety of teams including traders, DBAs, development, back office, QA, infrastructure, technical support, and business development globally
  • Educating end users and developers on core trading and back-office systems for efficient use of available tools
  • Creating documentation for common procedures, troubleshooting scenarios, and system architecture
  • Coordinating with other global support teams to ensure continuity and consistency of support in a 24/7 environment

Required Experience and Skills:
  • Proven troubleshooting skills and an ability to handle issues efficiently without a pre-defined runbook process
  • Prior experience in supporting high-performance applications and process monitoring
  • Previous experience in equities/equity options trading support
  • Familiarity with FIX protocol and alternative exchange protocols
  • Script development experience would be a plus
  • Proficiency in SQL, including queries, updates, table creation, and basic database maintenance
  • Experience in supporting Linux & Windows platforms in a large-scale production environment
  • Prior exposure to supporting electronic trading systems; experience at a proprietary trading firm is preferable
  • Comprehensive knowledge of network communications, including multicast networking usage
  • Must have a flexible schedule to ensure team coverage; rotating on-call coverage is required
  • B.S. in Computer Science or an equivalent degree
