We are currently seeking a technician to join our Municipal Transportation Section. This role provides exciting opportunities to assist and lead the design production of municipal roadway projects for a variety of local clients, such as the City of Olathe, City of Overland Park, and City of Lenexa. Recent projects include I-35 & Santa Fe Street Interchange, I-35 & 119th Street Interchange, 167th Street (Switzer to Antioch), and various Arterial Street Rehabilitation projects in Olathe, KS.

This opportunity entails performing non-routine and complex assignments at an advance proficiency level, involving responsibility for planning and conducting complete projects of varied scope. Assists the project management team in outlining objectives, requirements and design approaches. Responsible for gathering engineering or operational data from a variety of sources.
What You'll Do:
  • Responsible for the organization of design/production related files.
  • Responsible for verifying the accuracy of drawings and compatibility of work across disciplines.
  • Assists the engineer in outlining objectives, requirements and design approaches.
  • Attends project and pre-construction meetings and provides input to ensure proper policies, procedures, and specifications are followed. Prepares electronic files for use in meetings and facilitates their display.
  • Calculates quantities and performs engineering related computations.
  • Provides training and mentoring to earlier career technicians.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or related field and 3 years of relevant experience, or
  • Associate of Science in Drafting or Technical School or related and 5 years of relevant experience, or
  • In lieu education, 7 years of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:
  • Proficient in CADD and knowledgeable in design software such as GIS, 3D, Highway or Railroad design, Building design and Graphic Imaging
  • Advanced knowledge in the terminology and symbols used in survey notes, plans, shop drawings, aerial photographs, and maps related to a specific Engineering sub-type
