Job description

The Electron Beam Welder is responsible for setting up and operating electron beam welding machines to join metal pieces in accordance with specifications. This role plays a key part in the production process, including assisting in the development of new weld processes, and working with various departments to ensure continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Machine Setup & Operation:
    • Set up and operate electron beam welding machines to join metal components according to technical specifications.
  2. Welding & Process Development:
    • Perform production welding and assist in the development of new welding techniques and processes.
  3. Collaboration with Production Supervisor:
    • Work directly with the Production Supervisor to understand and meet customer order expectations.
  4. Quality Verification:
    • Conduct in-process verification to ensure the quality and accuracy of welding workmanship.
  5. Issue Reporting:
    • Notify the Production Supervisor of any potential challenges in meeting due dates or production deadlines.
  6. Equipment Monitoring:
    • Monitor the condition and performance of welding equipment and report any malfunctions to the Production Supervisor.
  7. Continuous Improvement & Quality Assurance:
    • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) Department to identify and implement process improvements, as well as work instructions.
  8. Corrective Action Resolution:
    • Assist the QA Department in addressing and resolving customer corrective actions related to welding quality or performance.
  9. Inspection Tools:
    • Understand and properly use measuring and inspection tools to ensure compliance with specifications.
  10. Interpretation of Technical Documents:
    • Read and interpret part drawings, blueprints, and specifications to accurately perform welding tasks.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Education:
    • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, with additional technical training preferred.
  2. Experience:
    • 3 years Experience with Electron Beam Welding (EB Welding) or Laser Welding is required.
  3. Skills:
    • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
    • Familiarity with welding equipment and measurement/inspection tools.
    • Good communication and problem-solving skills, particularly in addressing production challenges and quality assurance.

  • The role requires attention to detail, ability to work with precision tools, and adherence to safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
