Job description

Description:

The Electrical Testing Engineer at Hyper Solutions is responsible for executing electrical testing activities for power distribution equipment to ensure safety, performance, reliability, and compliance with applicable codes and standards. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert, providing guidance in test planning, execution, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement across manufacturing and product development.


Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Certification teams, this position supports product validation, UL compliance, and factory acceptance testing while helping strengthen test processes, documentation, and technical rigor across the organization.


Core Responsibilities

  • Execute electrical testing of power distribution equipment including switchgear, panelboards, PDUs, and RPPs.
  • Develop and maintain electrical test plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform and oversee functional, hi-pot, insulation resistance, grounding, and load testing.
  • Analyze test results and lead root-cause investigations for failures and nonconformances.
  • Ensure compliance with UL, NEC, IEEE, NEMA, and customer requirements.
  • Support UL witness testing, audits, and certification activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Troubleshoot test failures and production issues in support of manufacturing and quality teams.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in design reviews to ensure testability, safety, and code compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement of test methods, equipment, documentation, and lab processes.
  • Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and customer qualification activities.
  • Contribute to development of standard work, calibration practices, and test data management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical testing, validation, or verification of power distribution equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, control wiring, and protection schemes.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical test equipment and diagnostic tools.
  • Working knowledge of UL, NEC, IEEE, and NEMA standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and test documentation.
  • Proven analytical, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills.
  • Experience in electrical manufacturing or industrial test environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior involvement with UL certification and witness testing.
  • Experience supporting factory acceptance testing (FAT).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and electrical design documentation.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems and manufacturing test data systems.

Compensation

The anticipated minimum hiring range for this role is $110,000 - $130,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications and location. This hire will be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, such as individual and organizational performance.
