Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance/Electrical Technician is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of Mursix facilities, production machinery, and equipment. This position performs preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and general facility maintenance with an emphasis on electrical and mechanical systems.


The Maintenance/Electrical Technician must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, attention to detail, and minimizing equipment downtime.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on production machinery and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Troubleshoot single-phase and three-phase electrical systems, motors, controls, sensors, switches, relays, contactors, and related industrial electrical components.
  • Use electrical meters and other diagnostic equipment to safely identify and correct equipment issues.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical drawings.
  • Assist with the installation, wiring, setup, relocation, and commissioning of new and existing machinery and equipment.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance according to established schedules and document completed work accurately.
  • Create, update, and maintain maintenance records for production machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and determine appropriate repair methods to minimize downtime and prevent repeat failures.
  • Assist with more complex repairs and projects as needed.
  • Perform general building and facility maintenance, including basic plumbing, painting, HVAC-related maintenance, lighting, grounds maintenance, snow removal, and other facility needs.
  • Support manufacturing by fabricating or modifying items that improve machine performance, safety, or production efficiency, including brackets, shelves, guards, chutes, oil deflectors, and similar items.
  • Communicate effectively with production employees, supervisors, other maintenance team members, vendors, contractors, and suppliers regarding equipment issues and repairs.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, parts, and work areas in a clean and organized condition in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Follow all applicable LOTO, electrical safety, PPE, machine guarding, environmental, and company safety requirements.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, and potential hazards immediately.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Vocational, technical, apprenticeship, or other formal training in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated hands-on troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial production machinery and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting single-phase and three-phase electrical systems, motors, controls, sensors, switches, relays, contactors, and related industrial electrical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical drawings.
  • Experience safely using electrical meters, hand tools, power tools, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, sensors, and automated manufacturing equipment is a plus.
  • Experience in automotive, metal stamping, CNC, or similar manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify equipment issues and determine appropriate repairs.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while knowing when additional support is needed.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs and respond effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on completing work safely, accurately, and thoroughly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with Maintenance, Production, Tooling, Engineering, Quality, vendors, and other departments.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to accurately complete maintenance records and other required documentation.
  • Must demonstrate dependable attendance, professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and commitment to Mursix safety and workplace standards.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical requirements described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Frequently use hands and arms to handle tools, equipment, parts, and materials.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds independently and heavier items with appropriate assistance or lifting equipment.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs and work from elevated positions when required.
  • Ability to work around, under, and inside machinery and equipment where access may be limited.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions and use hand and power tools for extended periods.
  • Must have sufficient vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to safely troubleshoot, repair, and operate industrial equipment.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE and follow all applicable safety procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position works primarily in an active manufacturing environment and may also perform work throughout the facility and grounds.

Employees may regularly be exposed to:

  • Noise levels requiring hearing protection.
  • Oils, lubricants, coolants, chemicals, dust, fumes, and other materials commonly found in a manufacturing environment.

  • Production demands, equipment breakdowns, and changing priorities requiring work to be performed in a fast-paced environment.
