Job description

Job Summary:
At Centrus Energy, your work goes far beyond designing electrical systems - you'll help build and sustain the technology that supports America's energy security. As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, analyzing, and improving the electrical infrastructure that keeps our advanced nuclear fuel manufacturing operations running safely, efficiently, and reliably. If you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, collaborating with talented teams, and seeing your ideas come to life in a highly regulated, high-impact environment, we'd love to meet you.
What You Will Do:
As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you'll develop and support electrical power distribution systems, instrumentation, controls, and facility infrastructure that enable safe and reliable plant operations. You'll partner with operations, maintenance, project teams, and other engineering disciplines to troubleshoot equipment, lead design improvements, prepare engineering calculations and specifications, support capital projects, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement across one of the nation's most advanced nuclear technology facilities.
We'd Love to Hear from People With:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
  • 3+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering within an industrial, manufacturing, utility, energy, chemical, or similar environment
  • Experience designing, analyzing, or supporting industrial electrical power systems
  • Experience using ETAP software to perform system wide arc-flash, protection coordination and fault analysis studies.
  • Experience with developing electrical equipment preventative maintenance requirements and the ability to analyze maintenance results to develop corrective measures.
  • Knowledge of electrical power distribution, motor control centers (MCCs), switchgear, transformers, protective relaying, and electrical equipment
  • Familiarity with applicable engineering codes and standards including NFPA, NEC, IEEE, and ANSI
  • Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and design documentation
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering, maintenance, and operations teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and various engineering software including ETAP.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a "Q" level security clearance.

A Successful Candidate Brings:
  • 5+ years of experience supporting complex industrial electrical systems
  • Experience in the nuclear, chemical processing, manufacturing, utility, or other highly regulated industries
  • Experience performing power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash analyses
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), instrumentation, and industrial control systems
  • Experience leading capital improvement projects from design through commissioning by developing startup and commissioning plans
  • Knowledge of DOE, NRC, or other highly regulated operating environments
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma
  • Active "Q" or Top Secret Clearance

Pay:
Estimated Starting Base Salary Range: $65,555 - $109,259. This position is Bonus eligible. Centrus considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. While the posted range reflects the anticipated hiring range for this position, compensation above the range may be considered for candidates with exceptional qualifications and directly relevant experience.
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
This position will require a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test.

In addition, once employed, employees will become part of a random drug testing program and may also be tested in the event of any incident causing injury or causing damage to property, or if it is determined that there is a reasonable suspicion the employee is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This position will require preemployment background check on the part of the Company and in order to receive a Q security clearance, a background investigation by the Federal government. Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required.
