Electrical/Software Engineer - Automation
Job Summary:
Automation Electrical Engineer collaborates within a team of automation and process engineers to transform process control concepts into robust, capable solutions. The team is responsible for supporting, modifying, and upgrading process control, testing, and measurement components, along with related software on existing machinery. This role offers opportunities to apply design experience in areas such as robotics, electronics, machine vision, analog and digital signal processing, data management, and integrated measurement equipment.
The Automation Engineer also provides support to technicians, assisting with troubleshooting hardware and software to resolve equipment functionality issues. This role requires interaction across the facility, interfacing with all process departments.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a BSCS, BSEE, BSEET, or BS Physics degree, with relevant coursework in automation and system integration.
  • least 3 years of applied professional experience in the electronic development, design, and support of test-manufacturing equipment.
  • Major in electrical engineering, with a minor in software programming.
  • Working knowledge of electronic components and systems.
  • Experience with industrial networking, PLC, and PC-based control systems environments.
  • Robotics and mechatronics experience.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with statistical process control and data-driven problem solving.
  • Machine vision image analysis and integration, including experience with leading hardware/software manufacturers and libraries; interpretation of layered soft edge objects.
  • Familiarity with HMI devices and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in digital and analog control methods.
  • Understanding of computer hardware.
  • Experience with networking.
  • Electronics knowledge, including component-level design and electrical layouts.
  • Familiarity with pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Motorized motion control expertise.
  • Experience with machine vision systems.
  • Knowledge of safety systems.
  • Adaptability and proficiency in programming across various languages and industrial standards such as IEC 61131-3, Visual Studio.Net, and Codesys.
