Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a SCADA Technician to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot supervisory control and data acquisition systems used to monitor and control remote industrial, utility, and public-infrastructure sites. Working alongside our wireless and networking teams, you'll integrate PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, instrumentation, and telemetry radios into reliable, secure monitoring solutions for our clients across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission SCADA field hardware — PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, I/O modules, and control panels.

• Install and calibrate instrumentation and sensors (level, flow, pressure, temperature) and verify signal accuracy. • Set up and maintain telemetry and communications links (licensed/unlicensed radio, cellular, Ethernet, serial) between field sites and central SCADA.

• Configure and troubleshoot industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, and Ethernet/IP. • Build, modify, and test HMI/SCADA screens and data points; verify alarms, tags, and historian logging. • Diagnose and repair control, communication, and power issues at remote sites; perform preventive maintenance.

• Wire and terminate control, power, and signal circuits; read and redline electrical and P drawings. • Support network security and reliability of SCADA systems, including backups and firmware/software updates. • Maintain accurate documentation: site records, wiring diagrams, configuration backups, and service reports. • Follow all safety and lockout/tagout procedures when working in industrial and utility environments.

Required Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience with SCADA, industrial controls, instrumentation, electronics, or a closely related field (relevant military or technical-school training considered).

• Understanding of PLC/RTU/HMI concepts and industrial control wiring.

• Ability to read electrical schematics, control drawings, and interpret I/O and signal wiring. • Comfortable using multimeters, calibration tools, and basic hand/power tools.

• Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, switches, serial-to-Ethernet, connectivity troubleshooting). • Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record; able to pass a background check and drug screen. • Willingness to travel to remote sites and participate in an on-call rotation as needed.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with PLC/RTU platforms (Allen-Bradley, Schneider, GE, Motorola ACE/MOSCAD, or similar).

• Experience with SCADA/HMI software (Ignition, Wonderware/AVEVA, FactoryTalk, ClearSCADA, etc.). • Familiarity with Modbus, DNP3, and radio/cellular telemetry systems.

• Background in water/wastewater, oil & gas, or utility SCADA environments.

• Instrumentation, electrical, or associate degree/technical certification; ISA or manufacturer credentials.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and work in field, plant, and remote-site conditions. • Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, in confined spaces, and around industrial equipment. • Regional travel across Southwest Louisiana; occasional after-hours or on-call response for critical systems.

What We Offer

• Competitive hourly pay based on experience and certifications.

• Health/benefits package, paid time off, and paid holidays.

• Paid manufacturer and industry training in SCADA, controls, and telemetry.

• Company vehicle or vehicle allowance for field work (role-dependent).

• Stable, established employer and Motorola systems integrator with 75+ years in business.
