Collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and facility staff helps streamline the process, while staying updated on industry best practices ensures relocations are completed safely and efficiently.

What is the difference between Electrical Relocation vs Electrical Technician?

AspectElectrical RelocationElectrical Technician
CertificationsElectrical licenses, safety certificationsElectrical licenses, safety certifications
Work EnvironmentConstruction sites, industrial facilitiesManufacturing plants, maintenance sites
Industry UsageSpecialized in relocating electrical systemsInstalling, maintaining electrical systems

Electrical Relocation focuses on moving existing electrical systems safely and efficiently, often during construction or renovation projects. Electrical Technicians install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems. While both roles require similar certifications and work in related environments, Electrical Relocation specializes in system transfer, whereas Electrical Technicians handle ongoing system operation and repair.

What is electrical relocation?

Electrical relocation refers to the process of moving or altering the position of electrical systems, wiring, outlets, or equipment within a building or facility. This service is often needed during renovations, office moves, or when new equipment is installed that requires power in a different location. Electrical relocation ensures that all components are safely and efficiently repositioned while maintaining compliance with building codes and safety standards. Professional electricians handle this work to minimize downtime and prevent electrical hazards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Electrical Relocation, and why are they important?

To thrive in Electrical Relocation, you need strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring codes, and safety standards, typically supported by an electrician's license or equivalent certification. Familiarity with circuit testing tools, blueprint reading, and project management software is often required. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for coordinating with teams and clients. These abilities ensure electrical systems are safely and efficiently relocated, minimizing downtime and maintaining compliance with regulations.

Job description

Sr. Construction Superintendent - Electrical/Commercial (DFW, TX)
  • Department: Electrical/Commercial Construction
  • Location: Dallas-Fort Worth, TX | On-site
  • Role Type: Full-Time/ Perm (FTE)

About Our Client
Our client is a well-established commercial electrical construction firm with a strong presence across Texas, operating out of Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and Austin. Specializing in large-scale commercial and mission-critical electrical construction, they have built a reputation for delivering complex, high-value projects with exceptional field leadership and operational discipline. Their clients span a broad range of industries, including data centers, healthcare, education, and government. The company's culture is rooted in safety, accountability, and a commitment to quality - making them a preferred partner for major general contractors on some of the most demanding builds in the region.
Job Description
Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Superintendent with a proven track record leading large-scale commercial electrical construction projects valued at $20M or more. In this role, you will own all field operations - directing superintendents, foremen, and field crews across complex, multi-phase project sites while ensuring every project is delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Day-to-day, you will work in close coordination with Project Managers, General Contractors, and clients to drive execution and resolve field-level challenges before they become delays. You will lead manpower planning, workforce allocation, and production tracking, while enforcing rigorous safety and installation standards across your sites.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on field leader who thrives in high-stakes construction environments, has deep experience in data center or mission-critical builds, and brings discipline and communication skills to manage large crews and deliver results. This is a relocation opportunity - candidates must be willing to relocate to one of our client's Texas markets.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead all field operations on large-scale commercial electrical construction projects.
  • Manage superintendents, foremen, and field crews across multiple job sites.
  • Drive execution to meet schedule, budget, and quality standards on all assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, General Contractors, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee manpower planning, productivity tracking, and workforce allocation.
  • Enforce safety compliance and maintain high-quality installation standards at all times.
  • Conduct progress meetings, site walks, and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, delays, and potential cost overruns proactively.

Required Experience/Skills
  • 10+ years of commercial electrical construction experience (commercial only - no residential, industrial-only, or solar-only backgrounds).
  • Must have led a minimum of 3 individual projects each valued at $20M+ (cumulative project experience will not be considered).
  • Proven ability to manage large field teams, including 50+ personnel on-site.
  • Strong background in complex, multi-phase large-scale commercial electrical builds.
  • Data center or mission-critical construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of NEC codes, electrical systems, and field scheduling.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be willing and able to relocate to Texas (candidates currently located in Texas will not be considered).
  • Must not be currently employed by Hays Electrical, Humphreys & Associates, or MMR.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Data center or hyperscale construction experience.
  • Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar construction management platforms.
  • Experience working alongside major national general contractors.
  • Familiarity with mission-critical facility standards and owner-driven quality requirements.

Education
  • IEC, NJATC, or equivalent electrical trade education or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Formal education in Construction Management or a related field is a plus but not required given equivalent field experience.

Preferred Certifications
  • Texas Electrical License preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • IEC or equivalent trade certification preferred.

What Success Looks Like
  • Consistent delivery of $20M+ projects on time and on budget.
  • Strong field leadership resulting in high-performing, well-organized crews.
  • Minimal rework and strong ongoing relationships with clients and general contractors.

Pay & Benefits Summary
  • Compensation commensurate with experience - competitive with top-tier commercial electrical construction roles.
  • Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.
  • Vehicle allowance or company truck program (confirm with client).
  • Performance-based bonus structure (confirm with client).
  • Comprehensive health benefits package (confirm with client).
  • 401(k) and retirement benefits (confirm with client).
