Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Project Electrical Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Salisbury, MD. This position is ideal for an engineer with experience designing electrical systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to develop innovative, code-compliant electrical designs from concept through construction. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working on a wide variety of building projects in a collaborative, client-focused consulting engineering environment.
- Design electrical systems for commercial, educational, healthcare, municipal, industrial, and institutional facilities.
- Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations.
- Design power distribution systems, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems. Perform electrical load calculations, lighting photometric calculations, voltage drop studies, and equipment sizing.
- Coordinate designs with mechanical, structural, architectural, and civil engineering teams.
- Conduct field investigations, site visits, and existing facility assessments.
- Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and technical documentation.
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide construction administration support throughout project execution.
- Ensure designs comply with NEC, NFPA, IECC, local building codes, and client requirements.
- Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout all project phases.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
* 5+ years of experience in electrical design for building systems preferred.
* Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit (MEP).
* Experience with electrical design software such as SKM, Visual Lighting, AGi32, EasyPower, or similar is a plus.
* Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable building codes.
* Experience preparing construction documents for commercial or institutional projects.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain licensure.
* Experience with healthcare, municipal, or industrial facility design.
* Familiarity with energy-efficient building design and sustainable engineering practices.
