Job description

The Planning Engineer focuses on driving operational excellence within a manufacturing environment by identifying and resolving process inefficiencies through the design, development, and implementation of integrated systems. The ideal candidate will leverage data analysis, simulation, and lean manufacturing principles to optimize production processes, improve quality, and reduce waste. This position requires strong expertise in control systems (MES, EAM, TPM, EMS, QMS, WMS), automation, and AGV integration, coupled with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and ensure compliance with industry standards. A background in the battery industry or similar high-volume manufacturing environments is highly desirable, as is proficiency in data-driven problem-solving and process improvement.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and improve inefficiencies in processes, systems, and organizations
  • Design, develop, and implement integrated systems for managing industrial production processes
  • Use data analysis, simulation, and operations research techniques to understand complex systems and identify areas for optimization
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles and six sigma methodologies to reduce waste, improve quality, and increase efficiency
  • Work with cross-functional teams to implement solutions and achieve organizational goals
  • Lead as the Key User for various control systems including: MES, EAM, TPM, ,EMS QMS, WMS
  • Integrate new technologies, such as automation and AI solutions of various systems
  • Lead the optimization of AGV pathing and integration
  • Use computer simulations to model and analyze complex systems
  • Plan and design layouts for manufacturing plants, warehouse, and other facilities
  • Identify and lead the data capture of critical KPIs using various systems partnered with the IT team
  • Support in asset identification and control processes
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations (ISO, ANSI, RIA)
  • Collaboratively coordinate on future projects with both the local and overseas HQ team to ensure optimized processes and systems
  • Perform other assigned duties.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 Years Experience directly in an Industrial Engineering Role
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in identifying process inefficiencies and driving system solutions working within a manufacturing facility.
  • Proven experience driving execution within various Manufacturing Systems such as SCADA systems, Energy Management Systems, Enterprise Asset Management Systems, Warehouse Management Systems, Quality Management Systems
  • Proven experience with the management of Value Stream maps as well as Plant Layouts
  • Experience in the battery industry or similar industries like automotive and electrical manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in highly automated environments
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Travel up to 30% as required to support projects and system implementations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Masterโ€™s degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Certified Six Sigma Certification
  • Experience working directly with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Experience in Lithium Battery or manufacturing of electrical components
