Job description

Electricity grids are undergoing the most significant transformation in a century. The shift to renewables, the proliferation of rooftop solar, batteries, and EVs, and the increasing complexity of distribution networks are forcing utilities to operate their grids in fundamentally new ways. Gridsight is the analytics platform that makes this possible.
Gridsight is a rapidly growing GridTech startup dedicated to accelerating global electrification and decarbonization. We are an AI-powered vertical SaaS platform that enables electric utilities to modernize grid operations, accelerate DER interconnection, and unlock dynamic grid capacity. The opportunity is enormous.
As a Power Engineer at Gridsight, you will play a hybrid role blending technical consulting and solution delivery. You'll be at the forefront of deploying and optimizing our platform with utility customers - ensuring development and delivery of maximum value, while also advancing our thought-leadership in the industry. This is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly scaling, venture-backed company in the power industry.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Advanced Power Engineering Expertise:
    • Serve as an in-house subject matter expert on power distribution systems
    • Provide engineering guidance to customer teams transitioning to Gridsight-powered workflows, ensuring that technical implementations are robust, compliant, and future-proof.
  • Customer Support and Sales Enablement:
    • Develop and deliver engaging training sessions, workshops, and user guides to empower customer teams in effectively utilizing Gridsight's platform.
    • Provide ongoing platform technical support, troubleshooting complex issues, and coordinating with engineering teams to resolve critical escalations.
    • Foster long-term customer relationships by proactively monitoring platform usage, offering optimization strategies, and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
    • Represent Gridsight on customer calls, providing technical expertise as the Subject Matter Expert
    • Leveraging your technical expertise, support the team in putting together RFIs, RFPs and applying for various programs.
  • Implementation & Technical Onboarding:
    • Lead the end-to-end technical onboarding process for new utility customers, ensuring seamless deployment and configuration of Gridsight's platform.
    • Work with customers to understand their specific operational and regulatory requirements, customizing workflows and integrations to meet their needs.
    • Oversee data migration, integration with third-party systems, and performance monitoring for smooth day-to-day operation.
  • Solution Customization & Continuous Improvement:
    • Collaborate with internal product and engineering teams to refine existing features and develop new functionalities, aligning them with market and customer needs.
    • Advise customers on best practices for data management, analytics, and workflow optimization
    • Identify opportunities for additional value-add services or product enhancements based on customer feedback and evolving grid modernization requirements.
  • Thought Leadership & Market Engagement:
    • Represent Gridsight in industry working groups, conferences, and customer-facing webinars to showcase our solutions and share industry best practices.
    • Co-present case studies and research findings, elevating Gridsight's profile as a leader in grid flexibility, orchestration, and AI-driven power systems analytics.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior utility stakeholders, influencing their grid modernization strategies and demonstrating the ROI of adopting Gridsight's solutions.

Qualifications:
  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 5 - 10 years of experience in power systems engineering, distribution planning, or a related field within utilities, energy technology or consulting.
    • Demonstrated success in project management within utilities or energy.
    • Hands-on experience with advanced power system modeling tools (e.g., PowerFactory, CYME, PSS/E) and cloud-based SaaS technologies (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong expertise in distribution system planning or DER integration with system integration, APIs, data management, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for data processing.
    • Understanding of emerging trends in energy markets.
    • Knowledge of AI/ML applications in power systems is advantageous.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of interfacing with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
    • Proven problem-solving abilities and a self-starter mentality, comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
    • Effective project management skills, with a track record of coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring on-time, high-quality deliverables.
What We Offer:
  • Join a rapidly scaling venture-backed company on the first floor.
  • Highly competitive salary and equity package.
  • Flexible, hybrid working environment with a high performing, mission-driven team.
