Job description

Pay: $80,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year

Job description:

Salary: $80,000 – $105,000 annually, depending on experience, plus performance-based bonuses (estimated minimum of $20,000 annually)

About the Role

EM Energy Services is a quickly growing renewable and alternative energy company looking for an experienced, licensed electrician to lead field execution across our solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), EV charging, and LED retrofit project portfolio. This role reports to the Director of Construction and is based out of Leawood, KS, with continual travel required (75–80% of the time) to project sites across the central United States — roughly spanning from Colorado to Tennessee and North Dakota to Texas. Extended stays away from home should be expected.

This is a pivotal role in helping establish the policies and procedures that will guide our construction crews going forward. You'll oversee projects ranging from small commercial installations to large commercial/industrial and community solar/small utility-scale projects, supervising a mix of internal crews and temporary labor to ensure work is delivered safely, on schedule, and to code. As a foundational member of our construction operations, you'll have the opportunity to directly shape how our field teams operate — and as the company grows, there is significant room for advancement for someone who excels in this ground-floor role.

We encourage all candidates who meet the mandatory requirements and some of the preferred and bonus qualifications below to apply, even if you don't check every box. We are more interested in finding the right fit for the role than someone who meets every qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all on-site aspects of solar PV, BESS, EV charging, and LED retrofit installations from mobilization through close-out
  • Supervise internal employees, temporary labor, or a combination of both on active job sites
  • Ensure work complies with NEC, local AHJ requirements, and company safety standards
  • Coordinate scheduling, material readiness, and crew logistics across multiple concurrent project sites
  • Serve as the on-site technical authority for troubleshooting electrical, PV, and BESS system issues
  • Support quality control and commissioning activities across project types
  • Communicate project status, risks, and field issues to project management and leadership
  • Communicate effectively with office staff to coordinate scheduling, logistics, and project needs
  • Mentor and develop field crew members, reinforcing safety culture and technical best practices
  • Ensure company vehicle(s) receive required routine maintenance
  • Maintain parts and tool inventories

Mandatory Requirements

  • Active electrician's license, minimum Journeyman (non-negotiable)
  • Willingness and ability to travel 75–80% of the time, including extended stays away from home
  • Willingness to complete OSHA 30 within 30 days of hire (if not already held)
  • Willingness to pursue the NABCEP Board Certification pathway
  • Willingness to complete additional training and testing as needed to obtain electrical licensure in multiple states and jurisdictions
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass background check/drug screening as required by clients

  • 5+ years of hands-on solar PV installation experience
  • 2+ years of BESS installation experience
  • 3+ years in a supervisory/management role
  • 1+ years of EV charger installation experience

Bonus Requirements

  • Master Electrician license
  • 10+ years in the electrical field
  • OSHA 30 certification already in hand
  • NABCEP Board Certification already held
  • Licensed electrician in multiple states/jurisdictions
  • Experience with MW+ scale BESS projects
  • Experience with commercial EV charging station installation
  • Experience with community solar or utility-scale interconnection requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift 80 lbs
