Job Summary:
The Senior Electrical Engineer, on functional staff, reports to the Electrical Chief Engineer and is responsible for technical related electrical activities in providing support to NS&E projects. This position is intended to bolster the technical and administrative capabilities of the staff organization in support of the increased project workload expected over the foreseeable future.
"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical oversight of various active projects, including conducting on-project technical reviews, off-project technical reviews, work process reviews and interface with project personnel, EGSs, and project management on a routine basis to ensure Electrical Discipline project execution is consistent with Bechtel work practices, procedures, and design guides
  • Review Electrical Discipline estimates and schedules developed in Business Development or by Project, for both the job-hour and technical portions of the Electrical Discipline Scope
  • Support the design, checking, and overseeing of the implementation of Electrical Discipline work, which will include calculations, one-line diagrams, specifications, and system descriptions
  • Review and revise relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
  • Communicate complex technical issues and recommends solutions to the Electrical Chief Engineer and Manager of Engineering
  • Interpret new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data
  • Provide input to and participate in special technical educational and training programs as directed

Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Registered Professional Engineer in USA (Electrical Engineering)
  • Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs and other common computer programs
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Proven leadership & personnel skills
  • Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively
  • Extensive knowledge & application of NEC Code and ANSI/IEEE Standard
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards
  • Broad knowledge of the application of electrical engineering design principle
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and layouts
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, systems calculations, equipment sizing, and cable sizing
  • Strong knowledge of power systems load modeling and analysis
  • Extensive working knowledge with ETAP and other industry-wide electrical system design tools, such as CAD 2D, cable designing, and routing software
  • Familiar with Bechtel standard programs
  • Familiar with all Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs) and their application to projects
  • Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate Guides and Standards, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPS)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous supervisory experience
