Job description

SENIOR SUBSTATION ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Seeking Sr. Substation Electrical Engineer with High Voltage (69KV or higher) experience. The Sr. Substation Electrical Engineer will provide engineering support for the design of substation facilities.

Responsible for:

  • Substation physical design including overall engineering and analysis for new switchyards and substations, additions and modifications.
  • Prepare specifications and provide procurement support
  • Prepare engineering drawings including layout of general arrangements for HV switchyards or substation. Develop site plans, plan and elevation views, grounding, conduit, lighting, lightning protection and shielding, control building arrangements and details, AC station service, DC systems and bill of materials.
  • Develop substation grounding calculations and studies, lightning protection and insulation coordination, lighting, bus calculations, transformer and bus sizing calculations, fault calculations, and AC and DC auxiliary system sizing calculations.
  • Proposal preparation, estimates and input to scope documents and client presentations.

Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering and 8 more years of experience in substation design
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Experience power system modeling and analysis tools (e.g. ETAP, CYME, SKM)
  • Technical and practical engineering skills and ability to deliver quality, accurate and timely work.
  • Experience estimating project costs and writing proposal content.
