Job description

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to work on-site at our Kingsford, MI location.
The Senior Electrical Engineer will design and develop electrical controls/automation of assigned engineering tasks and projects.
MAJOR DUTIES:
  • Responsible for interpretation of and compliance with customer purchase specifications.
  • Develop design or design concept and product specifications within cost and budget goals.
  • Coordinate designer and design engineer's efforts, based on budget and schedule, when assigned.
  • Make or supervise preparation of layout drawings and schematics.
  • Perform, check, and approve electrical calculations.
  • Perform Programming for PLCs, VFDs, and other requirements as required.
  • Prepare detail and assembly drawings.
  • Confer with engineering management on problems encountered and questions arising on project.
  • Develop requirements for and specify purchase components.
  • Develop control system architecture.
  • Support manufacturing and customers by troubleshooting and testing products.
  • Communicate with other organizational operations on project requirements.
  • Prepare proposals with estimated engineering effort from customer specifications and to marketing requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews and other assigned activities.
  • Direct checking of all drawings prepared for use on project.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.S.E.E or 4-year Electrical Engineering Technology or Relevant Equivalent Experience.
  • 2+ years electrical design of powered (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic) machinery.
  • Electrical Equipment experience includes integration of VFDs, Motors, Contactors, relays, HMIs, and Panel design.
  • Experience with VFD/Contactor/Motor sizes varying from 1hp to 200 hp.
  • Product line experience with Rockwell PLCs/HMI/VFDs and Schneider VFDs preferred.
  • Experience will MIL spec environmental testing is a strong plus.
  • Must be able to travel between plant locations and to customer sites based on project needs; short notice travel may be required.
