The Electrical Engineer IIIis responsible for performing electrical power, PV system design, and/or low voltage system engineering tasks for renewable construction projects, under the direct supervision of an Engineering Team Leader as assigned by the Corporate Engineering Manager.The ideal candidate must be proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD knowledge is required as well as knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering

Experience:8-12 years of progressive electrical engineering related experience

or

Education: Associate Degree in Electrical Technology

Experience: 8-12 years of progressive electrical engineering related experience

Travel: 5-15%

Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs detailed calculations to compute and establish construction standards and specifications.
  • Prepares and studies technical drawings, and electrical specifications to ensure that installations and designs conform to standards and customer requirements.
  • Perform electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion. This includes collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams todevelop equipment layouts, one-line diagrams, cable routing, communications systems design, grounding design, equipment selection, and equipment specifications.
  • Perform (at minimum be familiar with) cable ampacity and trench design using software packages like CYMCAP, ETAP, or AmpCalc.
  • Modeling (at minimum be familiar with) of grounding system design using software package WinIGS.
  • Conducts field surveys and studies diagram and other data to identify and correct power system problems.
  • Confers with internal and external customers to discuss existing or potential construction projects.
  • Provides guidance to ensure that construction activities comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Inspects completed installations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications.
  • Compiles data and writes reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.
  • Operates computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Provides electrical engineering for complex projects with minimal team leader oversight.
  • Participates in customer / project interviews.
  • Proactively provides guidance to Level's 1 and 2 Engineers and Designers as project-specific tasks are executed, or as other opportunities are identified.
  • Provides training for other technical personnel in areas of expertise.
