Job description

About Mondi

At Mondi, we offer packaging and paper solutions designed to support a circular economy. We've grown from a single paper mill to a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, with our 24,000 employees working across 100+ production sites in more than 30 countries

We combine strong industrial heritage with continuous drive to innovate and create products that help our customers make more sustainable choices every day.

About the Role

As the Plant Electrical Engineer, you’ll provide hands‑on engineering support for the electrical, electronic, and controls systems that keep the plant’s production equipment and facility infrastructure operating safely and reliably. You will troubleshoot complex equipment issues, build and improve processes, and partner with Maintenance and Operations to reduce downtime and improve performance.

You’ll support electrical design, machine controls, power distribution, capital projects, and preventive and predictive maintenance activities. This role combines practical plant‑floor troubleshooting with project engineering, documentation, safety compliance, and continuous improvement in a fast‑paced paper bag manufacturing environment.

Your Mission

  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and controls issues affecting production machinery and building systems
  • Provide technical support during equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions
  • Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, variable frequency drives, servo systems, sensors, and industrial control networks
  • Design and improve electrical and control systems that increase equipment reliability, process capability, safety, and efficiency
  • Support plant power distribution equipment, including transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, panels, motors, and related systems
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, backups, and other technical documentation
  • Partner with Maintenance and Operations to develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for critical electrical assets
  • Lead or support capital projects from scoping and specification through installation, commissioning, training, and closeout
  • Coordinate contractors, integrators, equipment suppliers, and internal stakeholders during electrical installations and upgrades
  • Ensure electrical work complies with company requirements and applicable OSHA, NFPA 70E, National Electrical Code, and lockout/tagout practices
  • Analyze downtime and equipment performance data to prioritize reliability and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Provide technical coaching and training to maintenance technicians and production employees on electrical systems and safe work practices

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline required
  • 3+ years of electrical engineering, controls, or industrial automation experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial machinery, electrical power distribution, motors, drives, and control systems
  • Knowledge of industrial safety requirements, including OSHA, NFPA 70E, National Electrical Code, and lockout/tagout
  • Ability to read, create, and revise electrical schematics and technical drawings; AutoCAD Electrical or similar software experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, project management, communication, and cross-functional problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, access equipment and elevated areas, and respond to urgent equipment issues as needed; reasonable accommodations available under the ADA

Our Offer:

  • Comprehensive base salary plus incentive
  • Full Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance
  • 401k Retirement Savings Plan, fully vested and company match
  • An interesting job within the packaging & paper industry
  • Opportunities for professional growth
