Job description

Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer – Power Systems to support the design, engineering, construction, commissioning, and startup of the ISP Project.
The successful candidate will be responsible for electrical power system engineering activities including utility interconnection, substations, medium- and low-voltage distribution systems, power system studies, electrical equipment selection, and construction support. The role will work closely with EPC contractors, consultants, equipment suppliers, and project stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective electrical infrastructure for the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Power System Engineering
  • Support the design and implementation of the plant electrical power distribution network.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables related to:
    • Utility interconnection systems
    • High-voltage and medium-voltage substations
    • Power transformers
    • Switchgear and motor control centers (MCCs)
    • Emergency and backup power systems
    • Plant electrical distribution networks
  • Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
Electrical Design Review
  • Review electrical single-line diagrams, load lists, equipment specifications, cable schedules, and protection schemes.
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors and engineering consultants on design optimization and technical clarifications.
  • Evaluate vendor technical proposals and support equipment selection.
  • Participate in HAZOP, design reviews, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.
Power System Studies
  • Review and validate electrical system studies including:
    • Load flow studies
    • Short-circuit analysis
    • Protective relay coordination studies
    • Arc flash studies
    • Harmonic analysis
    • Grounding and earthing studies
  • Ensure electrical systems are designed for safety, reliability, and operational flexibility.
Construction & Commissioning Support
  • Provide technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and equipment inspections.
  • Support energization planning and startup activities.
  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical system issues during commissioning and operational readiness testing.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards, including:
    • NEC
    • NFPA
    • IEEE
    • NEMA
    • OSHA requirements
    • Utility interconnection standards
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure electrical safety principles are incorporated into all project activities.
Stakeholder Coordination
  • Interface with utility providers, EPC contractors, consultants, equipment suppliers, and project teams.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, process, instrumentation, and construction disciplines to ensure integrated project execution.
  • Provide technical guidance to project management regarding electrical scope, risks, and mitigation plans.
Skills & Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred or ability to obtain licensure.
Experience
  • Minimum 5–12 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting large industrial, steel, mining, metals, energy, petrochemical, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with power distribution systems from utility interconnection through plant-level electrical distribution.
  • Experience supporting EPC, EPCM, or owner’s engineering organizations preferred.
  • Greenfield project experience highly desirable.
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • High-voltage and medium-voltage systems
    • Substation design and operation
    • Power transformers
    • Switchgear and protection systems
    • Motor control centers
    • Variable frequency drives (VFDs)
    • Electrical grounding systems
  • Familiarity with ETAP, SKM Power Tools, EasyPower, or similar power system analysis software.
  • Ability to review electrical drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations.
