Job description

One Tech Engineering is searching for an Electrical Engineer for a position located in St. Louis, Missouri. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for substation engineering and consulting services for clients across the US and internationally.

The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related degree and 3 years of electrical engineering experience.

Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.

Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Develop proposals and scopes of work, including conceptual designs and execution plans.
  • Prepare engineering cost estimates, labor estimates, and project schedules.
  • Complete physical substation design such as yard layouts, plans, sections, grounding systems, lightning protection, control building arrangements, interior/exterior raceways, auxiliary AC/DC power systems, and bills of material.
  • Perform protection and control (P&C) design, including panel arrangements, one-line/single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC schematics, DC elementaries, equipment wiring, and relay panel wiring.
  • Prepare calculations and technical reports for engineering studies (e.g., grounding, lightning protection, AC/DC load studies).
  • Develop equipment specifications for procurement and support factory acceptance testing (FAT).
  • Coordinate design activities with cross-functional teams (Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission Line, etc.).
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to junior team members.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with clients and external stakeholders.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of designs prepared by engineers and designers.
  • Provide short-term field support during construction phases.
  • Support business development and marketing efforts as needed.
  • Potential additional involvement in relay settings, 3D/intelligent design, or participation in industry/professional technical committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements of the Electrical Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 3 years of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
  • Or a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 3 years of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
  • Or a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 2 years of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills. (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, MicroStation, 2D and 3D rendering programs and other analysis programs.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Engineers in Training-EIT Certification preferred.
