Your Opportunity
Stantec's Houston, TX office is looking for a skilled Electrical Engineer who will be able to apply electrical engineering principals and superior client service skills to cultivate and deliver projects that exceed expectations.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Leads electrical engineering design on multiple projects of various complexity including data collection and information gathering to support design decisions.
  • Conducts interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials.
  • Performs calculations to analyze and design individual building electrical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software including lighting photometrics and power systems studies.
  • Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
  • Works with architectural, interior, and other engineering disciplines in the coordination of the project.
  • Assists with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing and schedule.
  • Performs field work such as field investigation, and construction site observations.
  • Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Manager, Team Leader and/or Principal-in-Charge.
  • Serves as a trainer, mentor, and resource to others.
  • Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the electrical group.

Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable building codes and standards.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of power distribution systems and lighting systems for the built environment.
  • Strong knowledge of higher education, K-12, science & technology, commercial workplace and/or industrial market sectors.
  • Ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects.
  • Strong team and client communication and interpersonal skills
  • Functional knowledge of recent versions of Revit
  • Working knowledge of AGI 32 (or equivalent), load analysis software SKM (or equivalent), Microsoft Office, Newforma Project Center (or equivalent) and Bluebeam
  • Periodic travel may be required to meet engagement/client requirements - may include regional or national locations depending on project requirements.
  • Eligible for US Government Security clearance is a plus

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering is required.
    Licensed Professional Engineer is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer Licensure - ability to become licensed in Texas is required, existing licensure in TX is preferred. Licensure in other states is a plus.
  • 5+ years design experience in electrical design for buildings. Experience in one or more of the following sectors is preferred: Higher Education, K-12, Commercial, Workplace, Science & Technology

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
