Essel is partnering with one of the top water infrastructure firms in the San Gabriel Valley Area who is looking for a SR. Electrical Engineer with experience in the water industry.
Accountability:
The Senior Electrical Engineer reports to the Engineering Design Manager and is accountable for cost effective and timely delivery of electrical design services in support of our client's water supply plants, water treatment systems, pumping plants, water storage, and water distribution control plants.
Job Summary:
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for self-performing, leading a design team, and/or managing electrical consultants in the preparation of electrical design services including power, process control, and telemetry for the operation and control of potable water facilities. Coordinates with electrical utilities representatives for new or upsized electrical services to water plants. Prepare process control narratives for use by SCADA integrators. Provide electrical engineering support to company field electricians. Reviews equipment and material submittals to ensure compliance with project objectives and Company standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads a design team to perform and manage multiple electrical system designs and improvements for potable water plant projects
  • Prepares electrical design plans and specifications for new water facilities and improvements and replacements for existing water facilities
  • Coordinates internal and external resources (consultants) towards the completion of assigned electrical design projects while working closely with internal Asset Management departments, including Engineering Design, Engineering Planning, Technology Services, Capital Program Management, Operations, and Water Quality to ensure project objectives are achieved
  • Prioritizes assigned design projects within area of responsibility. Monitors and reports on design project schedules and budgets and implements corrective actions when needed
  • Determine size for electrical services and backup power supplies
  • Design Motor Control Centers, Telemetry Panels, and SCADA Panels
  • Performs QA/QC on electrical design projects by other engineers and consultants
  • Manages consultants and review invoices
  • Reviews shop drawing submittals and approves field changes during construction phase
  • Represents or assists in representing company in public settings with respect to projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university required
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in designing commercial electrical systems with a civil/mechanical consulting firm or as a private contractor. Previous experience working for a regional electric company and/or another water/wastewater utility with SCADA and system controls experience is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in supervision of relevant technical support staff is required
  • Currently registered in good standing as a Professional Electrical Engineer in the State of California
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 software and AutoCAD.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently to resolve cost, scheduling and resource allocation issues
  • Working knowledge of principles and practices of civil engineering design, project management and safe work practices
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex electrical engineering problems
