Job description

Senior Electrical Engineer (Mining & Metals)

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid/Onsite)

Role Type: Direct Hire | Senior Technical Leadership

The Opportunity

Are you a veteran Electrical Engineer who thrives on the complexity of high-power industrial systems? We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our E&IC (Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls) department in Phoenix.

In this senior-level role, you will hold the pen on technical sign-offs for massive mining and minerals projects. From initial load list development to ETAP modeling and final commissioning, you will be the authority ensuring that complex EPCM projects are powered for success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Power Systems Design: Lead the development of Medium and Low Voltage Single Line Diagrams, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams for large-scale mining operations.

  • Technical Modeling: Execute and oversee ETAP modeling to ensure system stability, load flow, and short-circuit analysis meet rigorous project standards.

  • Full-Cycle Engineering: Manage discipline design activities across all phases—from Concept and PFS/FS studies through to EPCM/EPC execution and commissioning.

  • Procurement & Package Management: Own the technical specifications, data sheets, and procurement support for major electrical equipment packages.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with Process and Mechanical departments to develop load lists and ensure seamless design interfaces between disciplines.

  • Site Leadership & Commissioning: Provide essential onsite technical support to contractors and lead commissioning activities to ensure a successful handover to the client.

  • Mentorship: Serve as a technical mentor for junior E&IC engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and "best practice" engineering.

Professional Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Licensure: Registered Professional Engineer (PE).

  • Experience: 15+ years of experience within a multi-disciplinary EPCM environment, specifically supporting the Mining, Minerals, or Metals sectors.

  • Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in ETAP, cable scheduling, and electrical database management.

  • Compliance Knowledge: Deep understanding of industry standards, client specifications, and relevant US electrical legislation.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage redline mark-ups, back-drafting, and formal engineering handovers.

Why Phoenix?

Joining our Phoenix hub means working at the epicenter of the North American mining industry. You’ll be part of a global group with nearly 40 years of expertise, working on projects that are defining the future of energy and mineral solutions. This is a direct-hire role that offers both technical challenge and professional stability.
