A CALL TO ACTION:

As SILTT charges ahead in the competitive world of technology, we need a strong technical electrical engineer to help us pioneer and maintain innovative solutions within the data center and telecommunications industry. This critical position will collaborate on solutions from analysis, concept, prototype, productization, integration, testing, fielding, and sustainment. No two days will be the same! One day may be dedicated to developing and leading a comprehensive O&M plan, the next conducting a First-of-a-Kind (FOAK) system inspection, another spent designing new electrical assemblies and creating a Technical Data Package (TDP), and others working with vendors to track and refine requirements of electrical assemblies we seek to purchase or develop. This Electrical Engineer will have the opportunity to be on the ground floor and help define the trajectory of SILTTs future and identity in the Solutionspace.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:

In this role, you will focus on providing technical expertise and engineering ingenuity towards a large array of challenges and innovations within the data center sector. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Design and analyze power distribution systems for data centers, including medium and low voltage systems, generators, UPS, battery, and energy management systems.
  • Foster close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, IT specialists, and project managers, to seamlessly integrate electrical solutions with HVAC systems, network infrastructure, and other critical data center components.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as IEC 60909, ANSI, NFPA 70, and NFPA 70E.
  • Develop clear, concise, and comprehensive technical specifications, detailed reports, and documentation for all electrical components, systems, and installations, adhering to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices
  • Provide technical support for installation, commissioning, and maintenance of power distribution equipment.
  • Play a key role in the development of long-term strategic plans for data center operations, maintenance, and upgrades, encompassing capacity planning, technology refreshes, and infrastructure improvements, and provide expert guidance and support during all phases of project planning, implementation, and evaluation.Support initial factory startup of equipment that is unfamiliar or new to market.
  • Develop a comprehensive list of likely electrical events that a power distribution system, placed in remote locations and austere conditions, may encounter.
  • Perform a complete design review of a proposed standard critical power distribution system and provide recommendations.
  • Research publicly available data regarding the stability and characteristics of utility power distribution in locations as specified by individual projects.
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative best practices in the rapidly evolving field of data center electrical engineering, and proactively identify opportunities to leverage new advancements to enhance the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of data center infrastructure.
  • Serve as a mentor and provide guidance and support to junior engineers within the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and knowledge sharing.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power distribution systems.
  • PE License - or willing to obtain.
  • Proven expertise in data center power systems.
  • Proficiency in power system analysis and modeling software (ETAP, SKM)
  • Strong knowledge of energy efficiency principles and sustainability practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Availability to travel to project sites.
TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS:

Partially remote. The work associated with this role is expected to be performed mostly in the office, though may be performed remote as required based on project needs. Some travel expected to meet with key suppliers, customers, assist with field installations and maintenance, and attend technical conferences.
