As our new Electrical Resident Engineer, you will engage in various levels of complexity construction-related projects which will require the application of standard construction techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related construction/engineering tasks. You must be capable of collaborating and making evaluations and interpretations, exercising independent judgment selecting and applying standard engineering/construction techniques, procedures, and criteria to make design adaptations and modifications.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Utilizing knowledge acquired through engineering or construction management degree to analyze the engineering concepts of a project. Ensuring that the technical components meet the engineering requirements of the contract documents.
  • Overseeing construction personnel to ensure construction procedures, methods and materials follow those specified in the contract documents. Directing Construction Superintendents, Project Managers, Foreman, etc. to comply with contract documents and report non-conformances throughout the duration of a project.
  • Reviewing design criteria, specifications, drawings, submittals, RFI responses, change management, and other pertinent documentation. Assisting in coordination and constructability review of design phase submittals.
  • Performing engineering calculations throughout the duration of the project to determine such requirements as pump performance, concrete mechanics, pipeline hydraulics, and electrical adequacy.
  • Assisting Design Engineer in developing conceptual change management modifications and scope.
  • Preparing cash flow calculations from a critical path schedule and schedule of values for the project owner to budget total project cost. Observing and monitoring contractor progress and scheduled completion through daily reporting and digital photo documentation.ย  Reviewing contractor payment request estimates for accuracy.
  • Assisting in commissioning activities for equipment and electrical systems. Overseeing site specific commissioning plans and developing/maintaining logs and checklists. Witnessing and documenting performance and startup testing.

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (BEng/BSc) or related disciplines.

  • Associate's degree or technical school certification in electrical or other relevant technical curriculum, and 4+ years of qualifying engineering experience working in the engineering/design field.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; build and maintain collaborative relationships with all stakeholders (client, contractor, and design disciplines)
  • General understanding of electrical regulations, standards, and codes.
  • General understanding of electrical systems including generators, power supply/distribution, UPS, MCC, VFD, OIT/HMI, SCADA, PLC, RTU, DCS, LPS, SPD, grounding, instrumentation, communications, and security.

Additional skills, certifications, and qualities that will help you succeed in this role include:

  • Advanced postgraduate degree.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred).
  • Municipal and State Agency experience.
  • CCM, USACE CQM, CCCA, NICET certifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and availability for up to 100% travel (mostly day trips to sites).
  • Electrical field education and aptitude.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate.

Your new team

You will join Ramboll's Water U.S. Construction Management Division to support delivery of municipal water construction projects. The division consists of administration staff, inspectors, resident engineers, and construction management professionals who collaborate to deliver high-quality construction services based out three main regions - Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and New York City.ย  ย This position will support work in the Mid-Atlantic region, however there may be occasional opportunities offered to work on projects in other regions.
The Water U.S. Construction Management Division is seeking various career development levels of an Electrical Resident Engineer and placement will be based on experience and qualifications. Entry level to Senior level candidates are encouraged to apply.

Salary Transparency

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across severalU.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this positionis $72,000 - $126,000 annually and does not include bonuses, overtime or other forms of compensation or benefits. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills,and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.

Our travel expense reimbursement policy covers ordinary, reasonable, and necessary out-of-town expenses, including lodging, meals, and transportation costs. Business mileage, in a personal vehicle that exceeds the regular commuting mileage, is reimbursed in accordance with the current IRS standard mileage rate.

Safety is embedded within Ramboll's culture. A dedicated team of health and safety specialists deliver formal training and consultation, operates a structured work observation and incident reporting program, and ensures access to required personal protective equipment (e.g. hard hats, safety vests, safety glasses, earplugs, etc.). Eligible employees are entitled to an annual $300 allowance toward approved safety footwear.ย
