Salary Exempt (United States of America)The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance, reliability, facilities, automation, and technical support functions for a 24/7 plastics manufacturing facility. This role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operation of injection molding, injection blow molding (IBM), and reheat stretch blow molding (RHSB) production equipment and supporting utilities.
The Maintenance Manager develops and executes maintenance strategies that maximize equipment uptime, improve reliability, support operational goals, and drive continuous improvement while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, technical excellence, and employee development.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and maintain a world-class safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, LOTO procedures, environmental requirements, and company policies.
  • Lead investigations and corrective actions related to maintenance-related incidents.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with established procedures.

Maintenance & Reliability Leadership

  • Develop and manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Drive equipment reliability and plant uptime through proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for chronic equipment issues.
  • Establish reliability standards and maintenance best practices across the facility.
  • Maintain effective maintenance planning and scheduling processes.

Technical Expertise

  • Provide leadership and technical direction for:

o Injection molding systems o Injection blow molding equipment

o Reheat stretch blow molding equipment

o Auxiliary processing equipment

o Chillers, compressors, dryers, conveyors, and utility systems

o Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems

  • Support troubleshooting efforts to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Partner with suppliers, OEMs, and engineering resources to improve equipment performance.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Recruit, develop, coach, and retain a skilled maintenance workforce.
  • Establish performance expectations and development plans for team members.
  • Ensure adequate technical support and staffing across all shifts.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead initiatives focused on improving OEE, reliability, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Utilize maintenance metrics and data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Drive sustainable solutions that improve operational effectiveness.

Budget & Asset Management

  • Develop and manage annual maintenance and facilities budgets.
  • Control maintenance expenditures while ensuring equipment reliability.
  • Manage critical spare parts inventory and vendor relationships.
  • Support capital planning and execution of equipment and facility projects.
  • Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Maintenance Management, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, manufacturing technology, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance leadership experience.
  • Experience supporting a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
  • Experience with plastics manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Experience with Injection molding operations, Injection blow molding, Reheat stretch blow molding systems.
  • PLCs, robotics, automation, and industrial controls.
  • CMMS management and reliability-centered maintenance programs.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence employees at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to prioritize resources to address high risk items first.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • This position operates primarily in a manufacturing and production environment across multiple locations within the campus.
  • Ability to perform standing job for 8 to 10 consecutive hours.
  • Remain stationary extended periods of time.
  • Move around production floor.
  • Move, adjust, and position anywhere from 10 to 20 pounds.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, including cold conditions in winter and hot conditions in summer.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods of time during a consecutive 8- to 10-hour period.
  • This position requires time spent in both office and manufacturing floor environments.
