Job description

TRC Talent Solutions, in partnership with a leading wire manufacturing organization, is seeking a Controls Engineer for a full-time, onsite opportunity in Carrollton, GA. This role is ideal for an engineering professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex automated systems, developing control solutions, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, programming, maintaining, and optimizing electrical control systems that support production operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on PLC programming experience, a strong understanding of industrial automation systems, and the ability to work effectively across production, maintenance, and engineering teams. Experience with Siemens products is strongly preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine control system malfunctions while identifying opportunities to improve equipment efficiency, reliability, and product quality.

  • Develop, modify, and maintain PLC, HMI, and embedded control applications for manufacturing equipment and processes.

  • Program and troubleshoot PLC systems, with experience in Siemens and Rockwell platforms preferred.

  • Participate in the installation, startup, commissioning, and optimization of new equipment and upgraded control systems.

  • Design, develop, maintain, and modify instrumentation and industrial control systems.

  • Provide start-to-finish electrical control system design, including control panel layouts and field wiring systems.

  • Utilize Electrical CAD software to create and maintain schematic drawings and electrical documentation.

  • Support manufacturing operations through technical problem-solving and process improvement initiatives.

  • Work with motors, relays, switches, photoeyes, drives, and other industrial control devices.

  • Collaborate with operators, technicians, engineers, and management to support plant objectives and production goals.

  • Ensure projects are completed within established timelines while maintaining quality and safety standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • Experience: 3+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.

  • PLC Programming: Strong experience with ladder logic and PLC programming.

  • Automation Systems: Experience developing and supporting PLC, HMI, instrumentation, and industrial control systems.

  • Electrical Systems: Knowledge of AC and DC electrical circuitry, power distribution systems, and industrial controls.

  • Hardware Design: Experience designing electrical control systems, including control panels and field wiring.

  • CAD Experience: Competency with Electrical CAD software and schematic development.

  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with operators, technicians, engineers, and leadership.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
